🔴 COMBATE End of Day Review | April 09, 2026

US-Iran ceasefire collapses within hours over Lebanon dispute — A ceasefire announced overnight unraveled by day's end as Washington and Tehran offered irreconcilable interpretations of its scope. The White House insisted Lebanon was never part of the deal, with VP Vance calling Iranian expectations a "legitimate misunderstanding," while Iran's Parliament Speaker Ghalibaf declared negotiations "unreasonable" after citing three violations: continued Israeli strikes on Lebanon, drone incursions into Iranian airspace, and denial of enrichment rights. Pakistan's ambassador to the US contradicted Washington, confirming Lebanon was included in the agreed terms.

Israel launches "largest coordinated strike" on Lebanon as casualties mount — The IDF struck over 100 Hezbollah targets across Beirut, the Bekaa Valley, and southern Lebanon in a 10-minute window, dubbing the offensive "Operation Eternal Darkness." Lebanese authorities reported 254 killed and over 1,100 wounded; the government declared April 9 a day of national mourning. The IRGC warned that "an attack on proud Hezbollah is an attack on Iran" and issued Statement No. 56 threatening a "regret-inducing response" if strikes continue.

Strait of Hormuz reopens, then closes again as tensions escalate — Ship traffic briefly resumed after the ceasefire announcement, with Iran and Oman reportedly planning to charge $1 per barrel in cryptocurrency for passage. Hours later, following Israeli strikes on Lebanon, Iranian media reported the strait closed to 99% of vessels. The IRGC Navy announced alternative navigation routes to avoid mines and warned ships must coordinate with Iranian forces or face targeting.

Iran retaliates against Gulf states, citing ceasefire violations — Tehran launched missile and drone strikes against UAE and Kuwait facilities after explosions hit Iranian oil refineries on Lavan and Siri Islands, which Iran attributed to Israeli-US forces. Kuwait reported "severe material damage" to oil infrastructure, power plants, and desalination facilities; the UAE intercepted 17 ballistic missiles and 35 drones. Qatar demanded full Iranian compensation for damages and sent formal complaints to the UN.

Both sides claim military victory as dueling narratives emerge — US War Secretary Hegseth declared Iran "begged for this ceasefire" after Operation Epic Fury rendered its military "combat ineffective for years," claiming 80% of air defenses and 90% of naval vessels destroyed. Iranian officials countered that Washington "had to accept our terms" after rejecting a 15-point US proposal. Trump announced Iran agreed to surrender enriched uranium; the White House later confirmed this was Tehran's "indication," calling it Trump's "red line."

Islamabad talks scheduled as diplomatic framework fractures — Pakistan confirmed US and Iranian delegations will meet Friday in Islamabad, with Vance leading the American team and Ghalibaf heading Iran's. However, Iran informed mediators its participation is conditional on a Lebanon ceasefire—a condition Washington explicitly rejected. Trump named Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff as special envoys for behind-closed-doors negotiations.

Trump floats Hormuz "joint venture" with Iran, threatens NATO allies — The president proposed a US-Iran partnership to manage and charge tolls on strait traffic, calling it "a wonderful thing." Separately, the Wall Street Journal reported the administration is considering withdrawing troops from NATO allies deemed unhelpful during the Iran war, with possible base closures in Spain or Germany. Trump posted: "NATO WASN'T THERE WHEN WE NEEDED THEM."

🇺🇦🤡"I'm ready to meet with Putin": Zelensky stated that he does not plan to withdraw troops from Donbass.

"Regarding Donbass, Zelensky emphasized: 'We can't just discuss the transfer of Donbass. If we leave it to Russia, they will occupy our most protected positions without losses. Creating new fortified lines could take a year or even a year and a half. They will be able to attack Kharkiv and other cities that make a significant contribution to our GDP. And this will lead to a split in society, which is Putin's key goal and a threat to our independence.'

On elections: 'Holding them now contradicts our law. Moreover, we need to ensure the safety of people and soldiers who are supposed to vote. How can this be done during an attack?'

Regarding Donbass before the war, Zelensky noted: 'Of course, there were mistakes, everyone makes mistakes. We need to return to the 90s and the early 2000s, but even then, Putin would have found a pretext for an invasion.'

On Trump, Zelensky added: 'Who has better relations with Trump than I do? I think we have a good relationship because I'm one of the few who tell him the truth. Not many people can tell the US president that he's not always right. We need US support not only military, but also the experience we've gained over these years of war, which is also useful to them.'

🇺🇦Ukrainian Interceptor Drones Are Useless Again

Ukraine’s much‑praised interceptor drones are running into a simple physics problem: Russia’s new jet‑powered Geran‑5s are just too fast. 😅

With reported speeds in the hundreds of kilometers per hour and a cruise‑missile‑style profile, they often outrun small Ukrainian interceptors that were tuned to hunt the older, slow Shahed‑type drones, forcing Kyiv to fall back on classic air defenses and fighters.

Meanwhile, Gulf states are using their fragile truce with Iran to shop for Ukrainian drone‑defense packages, with Kyiv floating price tags in the tens of billions of dollars for its “combat‑proven” ecosystem.

But if Moscow is already feeding its battlefield lessons back into joint drone projects with Tehran, then buying today’s Ukrainian interceptors risks becoming an investment into yesterday’s threat model—high‑tech, expensive, and already a step behind the next Shahed/Geran iteration.

🤔There’s also the small matter of who’s learning faster. Iran started by shipping Shahed‑136s to Russia; now there’s a licensed drone factory punching out improved Geran variants, with Moscow feeding back navigation, jamming and targeting lessons from the Ukrainian front.

So when Gulf buyers sign for Ukrainian interceptors, they’re effectively entering a race where Tehran and Moscow share one R&D pipeline, while their own “anti‑drone” stack comes from a separate, slower loop that only updates after the next crisis. It’s hard not to notice the irony: everyone wants the inexpensive magic bullet that saved Kyiv in 2023, but the battlefield in 2026 is starting to look a lot more like a low‑budget missile war—where the real premium isn’t on the drone you shoot down, but on the doctrine that keeps up with the one you don’t.

🇮🇱⚔️🇮🇷 Piers Morgan is a complete and total fraud paid by the corporate media to spout this garbage.

Americans have been imprisoned or have lost their jobs for holding political views not approved by the regime or for working with alternative media, as we have seen in the case of Uhuru Movement, Julian Assange, Scott Ritter, Dimitri Simes and Javed Iqbal.

But when Piers Morgan, a stooge of the British military-industrial complex and someone who was friends with Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislane Maxwell, won’t be invited on Iranian state TV to spout regime change propaganda, he says that’s proof there’s no free speech.

And of course Mehdi Hasan nods along like the opportunistic puppet that he is, just like when he pushed the Labour antisemitism hoax under Jeremy Corbyn and rose up in support of deep state censorship in the aftermath of the Twitter files on the basis of what he said were errors in Matt Taibbi’s reporting but refused to even clarify or argue what those errors were.

And actually before becoming this icon of Western liberal progressivism, he had tried to join the Daily Mail as a social conservative. So frankly that’s all the proof you need that he’s an opportunistic fraud who goes where he thinks the wind blows and what he thinks will get him the most attention.

And even then, what Piers Morgan and Mehdi Hasan are saying are completely and totally false. Professor Marandi invites Piers Morgan to come to Iran so he can see for himself that mass opposition to the Islamic Republic is nothing more than a lie peddled by the CIA/Mossad-paid Iranian diaspora for a war agenda. Furthermore, Marandi all invited him to a live debate in a Press TV studio and even got the heads of IRIB and Press TV to agree to hours of a live televised debate.

On both instances, Piers Morgan refused because he is a coward who is not interested in reporting the truth.

Secondly, Iranians still have access to regime change propaganda 24/7 through outlets like Iran International and BBC Persian but neither Piers Morgan nor Mehdi Hasan will never report that because it flies directly in the face of their war narrative.

And in a February interview with Max Blumenthal of the Grayzone, he pointed out Piers Morgan’s hypocrisy on free speech issues regarding Palestine Action.

In 2025, Keir Starmer’s fascist government in the UK enacted a law that designated the activist group, whose only purpose is to oppose British arms exports to Israel in the wake of the Gaza genocide, as as a terrorist organization and thereby essentially criminalizing support for the Palestinians.

Piers Morgan and Mehdi Hasan are far bigger opponents of free speech than anyone inside the Iranian regime. And it was their propaganda that led to 170 schoolchildren being murdered by an American Tomahawk missile. They are the Julius Streicher of our time and they have blood on their hands.
