Both programs were gutted under last year’s budget cuts so that the men who can’t protect a destroyer in the Arabian Sea could afford to run the 18th wave of a war nobody voted for.
Penn Wharton’s budget model puts the direct hit to taxpayers at $65 billion for military operations alone. Total economic cost to the United States: up to $210 billion. “If the war lasts more than two months, then this number goes up.”

It will last more than two months.
Since October 7, 2023, the American taxpayer has already spent between $31 and $34 billion on Israel’s wars across the region — before Operation Epic Fury fired its first Tomahawk. The counter just keeps running. $4,400 a second. Every second. While the Strait stays closed, the recession deepens, the interceptor stocks burn, and the men who promised you a clean weekend are meeting with Raytheon about restocking the magazines.
