Following Biden's skepticism, the health ministry in Hamas-controlled Gaza responded by publishing a report listing the names of over 6,000 “documented deaths” since the onset of attacks on October 7. The report detailed a chilling figure of 7,028 Palestinians killed between October 7 and 26, including a staggering 2,913 children. Despite these harrowing figures, Biden conveyed he had “no confidence” in the ministry’s casualty figures, further adding fuel to an already incendiary situation. White House spokesman John Kirby went on to label the ministry “a front for Hamas,” although not disputing the thousands of Palestinian deaths.

The blatant skepticism and denouncement from US officials starkly contrast with the unfolding humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.
