๐ท๐บ๐บ๐ธ๐บ๐ณ๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ต๐ธPutin on the worsening conflict between Israel and Palestine with the Iraqi Prime Minister:
Unfortunately, we are seeing a sharp escalation of the situation in the Middle East. I think that many will agree with me that this is a clear example of the failure of US policy in the Middle East, which tried to monopolize the settlement, but, unfortunately, was not concerned with finding compromises acceptable to both sides. On the contrary, putting forward their own ideas about how this should be done, they put pressure on both sides - namely, both - first on one, then on the other - but each time without taking into account the fundamental interests of the Palestinian people. I mean, first of all, the need to implement the decision of the UN Security Council on the creation of an independent sovereign Palestinian state. But, in any case, no matter what happens, I know your position, dear Mr. Prime Minister, and our position is that damage to the civilian population must be minimized and reduced to zero, and we call on all conflicting parties to do this sides.

The Islanderโs Stance: In Pursuit of Just Peace Amid the Horrors in Gaza
At The Islander, our compass points towards the enduring struggle and resilience of the Palestinian people. The tumultuous waves of history have washed upon the shores of Palestine, often leaving scars that run generations deep. As Gaza once again finds itself in the crucible of horrific conflict, our solidarity with Palestine remains steadfast.
We comprehend the multi-faceted essence of this struggle, rarely are conflicts like these black and white and it's too easy to view this with an emotionally driven, myopic lens. Hamas, a formidable faction within the Palestinian framework, represents a particular response to decades of subjugation. While their engagement in the battlefield springs from a well of historical injustices, the trail of civilian anguish that follows is a route that is hard to endorse.
Drawing a parallel to the tenets we've upheld during the SMO in Ukraine, our ethos resists the vilification of entire populations based on the acts of the few. Not every Israeli wears the cloak of an "evil occupier". Similarly, not every Palestinian harbours the spirit of terror. It's the vile acts of certain factions and individuals that merit condemnation.
As the skies over Gaza reverberate with the echoes of merciless Israeli bombardment, the historical narrative unfolds yet again - of a land unjustly occupied, of indigenous rights trampled upon, and of international laws flouted. The Western media often sails with the wind, offering a selective, pro-Israeli narrative that barely scratches the surface of this profound struggle. MSM hypocrisy often runs thick when covering this historical conflict.
We, at The Islander, endeavour to navigate through these murky waters, to chart a course that acknowledges the historical injustices, yet advocates for a discourse that transcends the rhetoric of hatred. The horrific assaults on Gaza, both present and past, underscore a narrative of oppression. Yet, the call for or celebration of civilian casualties on either side of the fence is a descent we refuse to partake in.
War wages in the name of civilians, yet it's the innocent who perish without consent. This grim reality is not lost on us. We reject any narrative that turns civilians into combatants or justifies their slaughter.
Our hopeful path is towards a just peace - a path where the rights and dignities of the Palestinian people are revered, where the cycle of violence is broken, and where the seeds of a peaceful coexistence can take root. We remain committed to shedding light on the nuanced realities, to challenging the myopic views that perpetuate the cycle of hatred, and to advocating for a narrative that honours the sanctity of innocent lives.
As The Islander sails through these tumultuous seas, our beacon of empathy and justice shines bright, illuminating the path towards a more balanced and humane discourse amidst the raging storms of conflict.

๐ฎ๐ฑโ๐ต๐ธ A look back to September 2014: Irish TD Richard Boyd Barrett slamming Israeli ambassador for racist apartheid policy in 2014

๐ท๐บ๐ต๐ธ Putin Reiterates Support for a Palestinian State: Reflects on Russia's Steadfast Stance Amid Escalating Middle East Tensions
Amidst the tumultuous backdrop of the Middle East, Russian President Vladimir Putin recently underscored Russia's unwavering support for the United Nations Security Council's resolution on establishing a Palestinian state. He pinpointed the unresolved status of this matter as the "root of all problems" in the region. This articulation isn't a new revelation but echoes a long-standing Russian stance that has remained steadfast over the decades.
The discourse in the US presents a markedly different narrative. While many in the US advocate for the creation of a sovereign Palestine as a resolution to the Middle East conflict, Putin observed a dominating inclination towards more forceful methods among some factions. This observation sheds light on a significant divergence in the approach towards one of modern historyโs longest-standing conflicts. The contrasting narratives between Russia and the US underscore a broader geopolitical discord, showcasing a critical difference in how major global players envision the pathway to resolution in this turbulent region.
The recent move by the US to deploy a carrier group near Israel's shores raised questions for Putin. He stated that while the escalation in Israel will not affect oil extraction, it could impact logistics, insurance, and freight. This remark reflects a nuanced understanding of the ripple effects that military postures in the region can have on various sectors, beyond the immediate security concerns.
In a note of subtle optimism amidst a complex geopolitical tableau, Putin harboured a desire that concerning the situation around Israel, "common sense will prevail." This succinct hope encapsulates a call for a more rational, diplomatic approach, subtly critiquing aggressive military postures, and advocating for adherence to internationally recognized resolutions as a pathway towards enduring peace.

๐ท๐บ๐ฉ๐ช Nord Stream Standoff: Putin Slams Germany's Economic Blind Spot Amid Explosive Revelations
President Vladimir Putin highlights a glaring economic misstep as Germany hesitates to commence gas supplies via the remaining Nord Stream line. Putin emphasized the absence of signals from Germany concerning its readiness, describing the halt in supplies as โstupid economic behaviour,โ harmful to the German economy. The simplicity of initiating the gas supply, akin to a mere โpress of a button,โ contrasts starkly with the apparent reluctance, leaving 27.5 billion cubic meters of gas per year untapped.
The narrative extends beyond economic folly as the uninvestigated explosions on the Nord Stream pipelines cast a long shadow. Despite Russia's eagerness for a collaborative investigation, the calls have fallen on deaf ears. The lack of scrutiny not only raises security concerns but also reflects a broader geopolitical 'disconnect'.
The one-year anniversary of the Nord Stream impasse, as discussed in Chay Bowe's latest article, brings renewed light to a cynical scenario. Seymour Hersh's findings reveal that three of the four pipelines comprising NS1 and NS2 were destroyed, with high-level US sources allegedly pointing fingers at the USโa revelation that, if true, would constitute an act of war. Cynically, Germany appears all too willing to deindustrialize itself and undermine its economic sovereignty to spite Russia. This absurd stance only serves to diminish Germanyโs sovereignty, rendering it almost completely beholden to the US. Was this self-imposed economic kneecapping an unintended consequence or a meticulously orchestrated plan? Cui bono indeedโฆ
