A resident of Chernigov filed a lawsuit against the Verkhovna Rada due to its inaction in setting presidential elections.
Oleg Serik demands that the Radaโs position be recognized as illegal and that parliament be obliged to set presidential elections.
The court accepted the claim for proceedings. The Ukrainian parliament will have 15 days to provide explanations, local media write.
How many days Serik has before being voluntarily sent to the front is not specified.

THE BRICS DEAL WITH UNCERTAIN CONSEQUENCES FOR RAFAH
โ๏ธA Collaboration by Lone Wolf and Hikaru Kitabayashiโ๏ธ
Israel was trying to coordinate a Rafah operation with Egypt and the United States. But, on 23 February 2024, Egypt and UAE, both BRICS members, bypassed the Collective West to make the biggest direct investment deal in Egyptโs history. Over the first two months of the deal, a total of $35 billion will be injected into Egypt's economy which will help address its hard currency shortage, reduce its foreign debts, as well as let it move ahead with urban development.
Before this deal, the Egyptian economy was in a state of increasing desperation. However, just two weeks after, a fresh agreement was reached with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), whereby Egypt signed an expanded $8bn deal which enlarged a $3bn, 46-month IMF Extended Fund Facility dating to December 2022. The IMF had wanted an economic reform package that included privatization, subsidy reductions, a flexible exchange rate, and making the militaryโs role in the national economy more transparent. Nevertheless, one does not need to be a cynic to question whether, in every case, the Egyptian government really intends now to actually implement all IMF demanded changes. After all, BRICS membership entails being part of a process of actively de-dollarizing the world economy. One could just as easily interpret the IMF's sudden generosity towards Egypt as a somewhat feeble, face-saving attempt to counter the growth of BRICS influence rather than as an inflexible imposition of national impoverishment as is usually the case.
The Egyptian government, although partly complicit in the initial Gaza genocide, objects to any influx of Palestinians into the Sinai peninsula. With economic desperation no longer being as pressing and Iran showing how vulnerable Israel's defenses are, recently increasing signs of self-respect suggest a possible greater willingness than before to stand ground and that the Egyptians do not trust the Israelis to respect the Gaza border fence. Egypt has built a second border wall on the Egyptian side of the border to serve as a deterrent. The deterrent may not work, either, if Israel extends the fighting into the Sinai, thus ending the peace treaty with Egypt to cause an unpredictable response.
The Collective West seems to think the fate of Rafah has been sealed and that Egypt has been taken care of, that it will always opt for a peaceful response as it needs peace to attract tourists and money. They assume Saudi Arabia will also remain quiet because it has financial, logistical, and geopolitical challenges. Riyadh has been forced to review its trillion dollar Vision 2030 megaproject which was launched in 2017 for the sake of economic diversification. Riyadh understands that the success of Vision 2030 heavily depends on stability in West Asia as a whole. Consequently, it reached a peace deal with Yemen, preserved the Beijing-brokered 2023 SaudiโIranian dรฉtente, restored relations with Qatar and Syria, and mended fences with Turkiye. However, Israelโs brutal seven-month war has created headwinds.
There is no denying that Saudi Arabiaโs economic diversification requires ships to be able to freely travel the Red Sea. This helps explain Riyadhโs frustration with the White House for not forcing Israel to negotiate a ceasefire in Gaza and to Saudi Arabiaโs decision not to join any US-led security initiatives and military operations in the Red Sea against Yemen. Before, some maintained that normalizing relations with Israel was necessary to complete Vision 2030. Yet, now amid the Gaza genocide, normalization seems, for the time being, off the table.
The fate of Rafah was also once certain. But, certainty quickly changes. Rafah, it seems, will bring its own surprises.

In Germany, they admitted that the local government is obstructing the investigation into explosions on the Nord Stream gas pipelines.
- said Bundestag deputy from the Alternative for Germany faction, member of the energy committee Steffen Kotre.
The politician is confident that Berlin will continue to oppose the investigation at the international level. He noted that instead of representing the interests of German citizens, the government is working against them.
According to him, Germany recognizes that the severance of relations with Russia damages the welfare, assets and security of Germans, but at the same time, with its sanctions policy and aggressive rhetoric towards Moscow, the government is only aggravating the situation.
- Cotret summarized with regret.

There is no doubt that the US is the main suspect. However, the German government is suppressing information and impeding the investigation of sabotage and a terrorist attack against German and Russian infrastructure,

โก๏ธ๐ท๐บ๐บ๐ฆโ๏ธ On #Novokalinovo and the Situation at the Northern Flank of #Avdeyevka Directionโก๏ธ
๐ท๐บ The RFAF continue to advance on the northern #Avdeyevka Flank. From west to east:
๐ต #Ocheretino, still not fully occupied. There is no urgent need to do so.
๐ต #Arkhangelskoye, located in the northeast of #Ocheretino. There are clearly no fights at or on its outskirts.
๐ต #Keramik, I claimed that the RFAF could entrench. In fact, they could also expand, but we are still far away from a takeover.
๐ต #Novokalinovo, I wrote about a huge advance but no takeover of the settlement. I roughly estimated a ratio of (75:25).
๐ Overall, a good result for the RFAF, close to my ๐ Evaluation today and far away from most other hyper optimistic reports.

๐ฎ๐ฑโ๐ต๐ธIsrael-Gaza Conflict: April 28-29 (Recap)
1๏ธโฃ At least 22 people have been killed, including children and women, in overnight Israeli bombings on Rafah and Gaza City, according to Wafa.
2๏ธโฃ Hamas officials are set to travel to Egyptโs capital on Monday for ceasefire talks.
3๏ธโฃ Israeli militaryโs chief of staff approves plans for the โcontinuation of warโ as hardline ministers warn Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu his government will collapse if a truce is agreed.
4๏ธโฃ Palestinian author Basim Khandaqji, who has been imprisoned by Israel since 2004, has been named as the winner of the 2024 International Prize for Arabic Fiction (IPAF) for his novel: A Mask, the Colour of the Sky.
5๏ธโฃ The Green Partyโs presidential candidate in the US, who was briefly detained at a student-led protest at Washington University in Missouri, said legitimate criticism of Israel is often incorrectly deemed as anti-Semitism. โZionism is not Judaism,โ Stein, who is Jewish, told Al Jazeera. โAnd Zionism has been controversial within the Jewish community. In fact since its origins in the 1800s, and that controversy continues today. And the consequences of Zionism is that Jews came in as refugees and said, โThis land is ours, and we are ethnically cleansing this land.โ And thatโs not OK.โ
6๏ธโฃ The Israeli government has received indications from senior legal officials that the International Criminal Court (ICC) prosecutor is considering issuing arrest warrants for Israeli officials, including PM Benjamin Netanyahu, according to a report by Israelโs Channel 12.

โก๏ธ๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ต๐ธโ๏ธ Escalation in the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict Zone until the End of 28 April 2024โก๏ธ
๐นIn the north of the #Gaza Strip, Israeli troops launched strikes on Beit Hanoun and several areas of the capital of the Palestinian enclave. Footage of destroyed houses circulated on the Net and deaths were reported.
๐นIn the central part of the Enclave, sporadic shootings continued north of Nuseirat. However, over the course of two weeks, the configuration of the front in this area did not undergo significant changes.
๐นIn the south of the Enclave, the Israelis again attacked Rafah and the eastern areas of Khan Yunis. At the same time, the IDF continued to move armoured vehicles into the border zone in preparation for an offensive in the very south of the enclave.
๐นIn the West Bank, operations by Israeli security forces in several settlements took place as usual. A series of clashes happened in Nablus, Qalqilya and Tulkarm, where local militants were active.
๐นAlong the border with #Lebanon, the usual exchange of strikes continued. Hezbollah fighters fired missiles at the Meron Military Base and several IDF border posts, while Israeli troops worked throughout southern #Lebanon.

๐๐ท๐บ๐บ๐ฆโ๏ธ Two Majors #Report for the Morning of 29 April 2024; pub. 07:10๐
๐นIn the #Kherson direction, the AFU commander-in-chief Syrsky reported in public for some reason that he had taken control of the island of #Nestriga in the floodplain of the #Dnieper. The mishap of the situation is in the location of the island (it is closer to the enemy's coast) and its tactical importance - counter actions on the islands are going on all the time and the fact of "holding" this island by a small infantry group of 7-8 people does not mean anything. By nightfall we received information that the AFU infantry group on the island had been destroyed. Mutual artillery shelling and drone strikes continue in the direction. Two civilians were killed in #Dnepryany settlement due to the AFU mortar shelling
๐นOn the #Zaporozhye front, the AFU are increasing the use of "Baba Yaga" type drones for terrain mines and bombardments. They report the use of up to 20 drones, enemy artillery is working closely.
๐นIn #Krasnogorovka in the South Donetsk direction, the RFAF are using 240mm Tulpan mortars, our forward units are outflanking the Refractory Plant.
๐นWest of #Avdeyevka (#Pokrovskoye direction), there is an assault on the settlement of #Netaylovo, the RFAF are expanding the bridgehead of #Ocheretino - #Novobakhmutovka - #Solovyevo, and they are developing an attack on #Keramik from #Novokalinovo.
๐นOn the #ChasovYar front, there is heavy fighting. It is reported that the enemy has transferred special forces of the GUR to the direction in the hope of holding back the Russian Army's onslaught.
๐นIn the #Kupyansk direction, the RFAF planted a flag in #Kislovka, a section of the front "woke up" the other day, our troops went on the offensive.
๐ฅ The AFU's shelling of the #Kursk and #Belgorod regions continues. In the #DPR, one civilian was killed and one wounded as a result of Nazi shelling.
๐ฌ Kupyansk direction, reports from the channel Greetings from home 152 - Ours put a flag in #Kislovka, and yesterday we intensified offensive actions in the direction of the RFAF.
