Welcome! You are invited to join a meeting: The Goa Project Sessions. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email…
Join the TGP gang for mini-talks that lead to involved conversations, ideas, collaborations, and fun.
On 9th April, at 5:30 p.m.
At this Sessions, which is happening a few days after the UN’s World Health Day, we decided to spend time talking about the kind of health that has only been accorded significant attention, recognition and respect in recent years: mental health. The field, as you will know if you have been following it, is vast.
We have chosen this time to focus on two topics. Dayal Mirchandani will talk about process addictions, which include things like gambling, porn, and yes, online addiction. And Aditi Raghuram will talk about the struggles that young people go through in the hard-driving, rapidly changing start-up world, work:life balance, failure, and inclusion.

TGP Sessions today is a musical one. We have musicans who have been advocating for music and songs which can get lost in rapidly changing, Bollymusic-dominated India; not just that: they show the way with their own work. There’ll be time for questions and chat, of course and as always, but feel free to book your seats even if all you want to do is come listen to some live and lively music.

Our next #TGPSessions is a workshop on idea generation with Sumit Roy.
Sumit has made a career of encouraging people to grow their businesses into brands. He runs “the world’s smallest learn-by-earning university” which has no classrooms, no lectures, no employees: Univbrands. ‘Students’ learn by earning, on their own businesses. Univbrands students range from home-based entrepreneurs to managers in multi-national corporations spread all over the world: the Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia. He operates from Kolkata. Sumit learned how to grow brands in the 14 years he spent with Ogilvy & Mather. Then he learned how to grow people who grow brands in the four years he spent at Lintas. He is a founder member of The Red Curtain International, a group that does good theatre for good causes.
Full details about the workshop, including how to sign up, at https://thegoaproject.wordpress.com/2023/05/30/five-minutes-three-right-answers-sumit-roy/
Limited seats, so register early.

Dear friends,
If the extreme weather events that have become more frequent in recent years have not convinced you, maybe the brutal summer we in India have just gone through, and the delayed monsoon (and already, flooded cities) will. We are living in a world where climate change is a grim and ongoing reality. Even the more fortunate among us are feeling its effects; those with less privilege are undoubtedly going to get it worse. In this Sessions, we will hear from and chat with two people who have made environmental concerns their lives’ work: Shannon Olsson will talk about sustaining our lives and the lives around us; and Ajay Raghavan will focus on how we can better prepare for the future.

Dear friends,
In the digital world we live in, it is common to hear the lament that people don’t read any more. Which is untrue for ‘people like us,’ because we seem to be consuming words all day, just not through books as much, and as one of our presenters tells us, it is certainly untrue for people who don’t have ready access to books and want them. Our other presenter makes a living doing something many of tend to romanticise — perhaps as much as running a cute little cafe? — running a small independent bookshop in an era where online behemoths vacuum up the buyers.
Join us this Sunday to hear from two people who in their different ways work hard to put books into the hands of readers, Purnima Rao and Leonard Fernandes.

As the internet has grown and high-speed connectivity on multiple screens has become ubiquitous, it has changed most aspects of our lives, not least the way we consume entertainment. But what about the entertainers? When we have grown accustomed to receiving our content free or dirt cheap, and when there are so many producers vying for our attention, how does it affect their methods and their ways of being compensated for their labour? This Sunday, we hear from two veterans who know the ins and outs of both the creative and the economic sides of show business, one from cinema, the other from music. Do join in the conversation.

By far the largest section of underrepresented people in Indian politics (and in varying degrees, that’s true around the world too), is women. Men effectively frame all the laws that govern our lives, including those that affect women. The 106th Amendment of the Constitution of India, a.k.a. the Women’s Reservation Bill 2023 — which allocates 33% percent of seats in the Lok Sabha and state legislative assemblies for women — is the culmination of almost three decades of work. It is not all done, though: its provisions will only come into play after the postponed census and subsequent delimitation exercise.
This Sunday, we hear from two people who have worked for the inclusion of women in politics, each in their own way:
