This Sunday, in the Design track, we look beyond what is usually considered the design domain, to content and audiences, and to a literal voice for brands.

Trishita has worked within the fashion, luxury and lifestyle space over the past ten years, gaining an in-depth understanding of the Indian market, its preferences and style. She is co-founder of Nuance Consultancy, and a visiting faculty member at Istituto Marangoni and ISDI, Mumbai.

Aditi is a professional voice-over artist based in Mumbai. A versatile voice with years of experience recording commercials, promos and taglines in English, and Hindi and Urdu, she can do a soft soothing promo just as easily as she can do a bubbly energetic one.

This Sunday at The Goa Project Sessions, in the News & Media track, we chat about covering state elections in non-mainstream areas of the country.

Smita is a journalist, formerly with The Indian Express, where she covered security, crime, cities and people between 2004 and 2020. She covered Goa as the paper’s state correspondent between two assembly terms since 2017. Currently she is an independent journalist and on the look out for her next story.

Paojel is a senior journalist in Manipur, where he is executive editor of The Frontier Manipur.

This Sunday, it’s the Intersections track, where we focus on people and things which cross domains.

Neha will talk about her practice as ceramist and kathak dancer (and recently, not-very-good-but-trying-to-get-better farmer) and how these overlap, intermingle, and grow together. And Gaurav will lead an open discussion about the kind of content that we in India consume and what makes it interesting; and whether the time, money and effort that goes into creating it is worth it.

Neha is a visual and performing artist living on a farm in rural Maharashtra. She has chosen to negotiate various roles — ceramicist, dancer, researcher, choreographer, collaborator — that inform one another and broaden her approach as an artist and maker. She places herself in her social, political, material, cultural, and physical environment through her work, sometimes playful, sometimes sombre, and often uses her body as the subject and object of her work, and as the tool for the making of it. Neha is a co-founder of beej a performing arts collective in Mumbai, and a co-curator of the Indian Ceramics Triennale.

Gaurav’s latest career iteration is as the co-founder of a true-stories based media company called All Things Small, a Rainshine Entertainment company. ATS finds and produces the best, most compelling non-fiction from the Indian subcontinent, in a variety of formats and on every platform imaginable. Gaurav is COO as well as head of the audio production division.
Today at The Goa Project Sessions, it’s Fringe & Geekery, which we define as things that aren’t mainstream or widely known and people who know a lot about them and care deeply.

Gadhadar will talk about how carbon nanotubes outperform other materials, and Deepak will remind us of pain-free approaches to investing that outperform most mutual funds.

Friends,

Due to unforeseen circumstances, we’re rescheduling today’s TGP Sessions.

We’ll come back on 8th May with a Goa Spotlight, and then, on 22nd May, we have an in-person event — all fates permitting — in Bangalore, so those of you who are there or who plan to be, do mark the date in your calendars. More on on that in a bit.

See you on the 8th!
This Sunday, we turn the spotlight towards our spiritual home, Goa, and to people doing interesting things in and for the state. Our presenters today will talk about aspects of art in Goa.

Lina is an independent art historian and curator with two decades of experience in arts management. She has worked on projects that highlighted plural, multi-layered approaches, with a focus on inclusivity and collaboration in public arts engagement. It has resulted in interconnected bodies of research and curation that bring together diverse voices, modes of expression, and interfaces for dialogue. The focus areas of her research extend to arts education, printmaking history and practice, the documentation of living traditions and folk arts in India, and environmental consciousness in the arts. Her current practice foregrounds sustained engagement with material culture and social history, seen through acts of community interaction, pedagogical interventions; archiving and interpretation.

Gurpreet has established and managed the very successful store People Tree in Delhi and Goa. The store supports fair trade in the crafts and provides a retail platform to many creative practitioners. She is one of the core team of Goa Open Arts.
Dear TGPians who are also Bangalore residents or who might happen to be visiting the city on 22nd May,

This Sunday, The Goa Project Sessions has our first turn in-person event since 2018, and since it’s in Bangalore, we decided to focus on the city itself, its culture and history. Our presenters will chat about the a festival that crosses religious boundaries, a garden in the heart of the urban sprawl, and how theatre has evolved. As ever, there will be time for Q&A, and, of course, time for informal chat and the off-stage conversations that are an intrinsic part of TGP.
