Upcoming new video: Mjölnir, Þunor’s hammers. What’s their story? Where did he get them, and as English-speakers, what’s their name?

Very excited at prospect the new bracteate hoard from Jutland may contain an archaic Proto Norse runic inscription of Odin's earlier name "Wodinas". Another features his heiti "High" as in 'the High one', showing the antiquity of the epithet. Hail the High One!

Hilda Ellis Davidson argued the Germanic swastika was a symbol of Thor but now I don't think so. We have a few bracteates with possible depictions of Odin next to a swastika, and in this case a clearly labelled depiction of Odin. Anglo-Saxon pagans used the swastika in association with the grave indicating a link to the dead. I also recall the runic inscription ALU GOD with a swastika on a 3rd century silver fibula (DR EM85;123) from Værløse, Zealand, Denmark , which I suspected referred to Odin. The ALU runic charm also features on another bracteate DR BR42 with the same design as this new "High" find featuring a mounted man speaking to a bird and on another, G 205, of a mounted man with ALU next to him and a swastika below. Overall I think the swastika is a sign of the ALU GOD Wodinas
The Fylfot is more than likely a symbol representing the sun. ALU (ᚨᛚᚢ) likely represents the Alugod. Alu means “Ale”, which in association with Wóden, we are reminded of his drinks from Mimor’s Spring and that he lives off mead alone. Wóden is also the originator of ġealdor, which when in combination with the “ale” connection, indicates that he is the Alugod.

Death Song
Hear!
In this village,
A chill runs free,
Woe to the one who feels it,
For he must give his soul.
If I am chosen,
If I must go,
I'll probably not return,
But....
Leave the gate open.

The donkey told the tiger, “The grass is blue.”
The tiger replied, “No, the grass is green.”
The discussion became heated, and the two decided to submit the issue to arbitration, so they approached the lion.
As they approached the lion on his throne, the donkey started screaming: ′′Your Highness, isn’t it true that the grass is blue?”
The lion replied: “If you believe it is true, the grass is blue.”
The donkey rushed forward and continued: ′′The tiger disagrees with me, contradicts me and annoys me. Please punish him.”
The king then declared: ′′The tiger will be punished with 3 days of silence.”
The donkey jumped with joy and went on his way, content and repeating ′′The grass is blue, the grass is blue…”
The tiger asked the lion, “Your Majesty, why have you punished me, after all, the grass is green?”
The lion replied, ′′You’ve known and seen the grass is green.”
The tiger asked, ′′So why do you punish me?”
The lion replied, “That has nothing to do with the question of whether the grass is blue or green. The punishment is because it is degrading for a brave, intelligent creature like you to waste time arguing with an ass, and on top of that, you came and bothered me with that question just to validate something you already knew was true!”
The biggest waste of time is arguing with the fool and fanatic who doesn’t care about truth or reality, but only the victory of his beliefs and illusions.
Never waste time on discussions that make no sense. There are people who, for all the evidence presented to them, do not have the ability to understand. Others who are blinded by ego, hatred and resentment, and the only thing that they want is to be right even if they aren’t.
When IGNORANCE SCREAMS, intelligence moves on…

The phrase “útan garðs“.
Nú liggja haglendi saman útan garðs: “Now grazing lands lie adjacent outside the fenced area (hay meadow)“.
“The Faroese sheep-letter“, detailing rules about straying livestock.
An Icelandic and Faroese legal term having to do with resource rights.
In Norway, útan garðs referred to communal resources (such as grazing).

'The most terrifying force of death, comes from the hands of men who wanted to be left alone.
They try to mind their own business and provide for themselves and those they love.
They resist every impulse to fight back, knowing the forced and permanent change of life that will come from it. They know, that the moment they fight back, their lives as they have lived them, are over. The moment the men who wanted to be left alone are forced to fight back, it is a form of suicide. They are literally killing off who they used to be.
When forced to take up violence, these men who wanted to be left alone, fight with unholy vengeance against those who murdered their former lives. They fight with raw hate, and a drive that cannot be fathomed by those who are merely play-acting at politics and terror.
TRUE TERROR will arrive at these people's door, and they will cry, scream, and beg for mercy... but it will fall upon the deaf ears of the men who just wanted to be left alone.' - Author Unknown

The character of the soul is far from being dependent on speculation and belief. It is first and foremost an object of experience, an everyday reality. The Þéow has no soul, our ancestors say; and they know, because they have seen that it is lacking in him. When a Þéow finds himself in a perilous situation, be goes blind. How a soulless man would naturally behave we can learn from the story of the fight at Orlygsstad, where the wise and noble chief Arnkel met his death. When Arnkel unexpectedly found himself attacked by a superior force he sent home his thrall to bring aid. On the road the messenger was accosted by a fellow-servant — and willingly fell to helping him with a load of hay. Not until the evening, when those at home asked where Arnkel was, did he wake up and remember that his master was fighting with Snorri at Orlygsstad. There is no need of any hypothesis as to soul and life to make clear the fact that the Þéow lacked hyġ and a Fylġestre (hugr and hamingja); his soullessness is discernible by the lack-lustre of his eyes. The only possibility for a Þéow to rise into something like a human being is by inspiration of his master's luck and life, and thus faithfulness and devotion are the noblest virtues of a Þéow.
