I was asked about the Folcsida Ġerīmbōc. There’s always been more than one calendar reckoning with our forebears, as with us today. Historically, calendars would shift; altered as new systems were discovered & various parts incorporated to aid accuracy & workability. A link to the beginning of the Folcsida Ġerīmbōc essay (up to 43 parts): https://t.me/TheFrithstead/798. I’m planning finishing the series covering the remaining observances when they arrive. I also speak on the calendar in the Sacred Strew episode (linked here: https://linktr.ee/TheFrithstead). One thing of note, is that Folcsida is not strict reconstructionist nor is it anachronistic. It seeks not to copy the past, but build off it. It seeks not to become anachronistic, for it is a living spirituality grown from, & evolving from our native ancestral faith. We could spend our time arguing/debating over this system or that system, but we live in 2022 & the best path forward is to live today by building off the past; utilizing a practical system.

The Nature Artists - Part 2
Are the Ylfe our Male Ancestors?
Much of history is indeed lost or obscured, which makes it difficult to reclaim that which we have lost and rediscover that which has been stolen. The idea that the Ylfe are our male ancestors is rooted in the folklore of our forebears. Folklore is a mix of truth and fiction; originally utilized as a way to preserve our history in a way where it could be hidden in plain sight. A folk begins with living in truth, then when obfuscation occurs, we hold on tight to what we know is true, but this is when the obscuring takes place, both intentionally by the offending party and unintentionally by the innocent party. The slide continues until we reach where we are today where the overwhelming masses are amnesiac to their history, have abandoned their culture, forgotten their ancestors, and have embraced chaotic emptiness of degeneracy. The slide is seen as such - Truth is in the Lore and Skaldic Poetry, or any other text written by Heathen authors. Then, sliding a bit further we have the Sagas, where a dual-faith was practiced. This is where we have embellishments, half-truths, and when foreign elements begin to be woven into the truth. It’s just enough to both make a good entertaining story, set hold enough Heathen truth and historical accuracy to be a valuable research tool. Even with the embellishments, the truth is there, in plain sight, for all who seek. Next, is when the folk have forgotten much of their past, having adopted a foreign creed, and it’s various ideologies, but in their subconscious, in their blood, manifested in the traditions they perform, and through the faint whisperings in their ears from their ancestors and gods, folklore emerges. Folklore is seen as fiction, and rightly so, for much of it is, but in its depths are kernels of ancient truths and nuggets of Heathen wisdom. It’s as if the truth sits on the bottom of a lake, resting on the Sandy floor, waiting to be brought to the surface. One just has to make the dive and analyze the texts. One such example is the motif of fairy godmothers, where they work with fate; reminiscent of the Norns of Orlæġ, Wyrd, Weorðende, and Sċyld. Until finally, the stories become pure fiction with tales of Sherlock Holmes, Superman, Lord of The Rings, or the Matrix. Yet even Sherlock inspired us to seek truth, Superman, akin to Béowulf, tells us to be honorable & brave, Lord of the Rings inspires us to remember our ancient ways, and the Matrix begs us to break free from our chains and return home. To complete the circle, I don’t believe that the Ylfe began as our ancestors, but we do have tales of the gods siring children with the daughters of man. It’s possible that this folkloric belief is rooted in the ancestral memory of when the gods sired family lines in Middanġeard. One such example is found in Þáttr Ólafs Geirstaða Alfs, where King Ólaf rides past his forebear and namesake’s burial mound. His forebear, is now called Ólaf Geirstaðaálfr - “Olaf, the Elf of Geirstad.” This title implies the ylfen state of Ólaf’s forefather. The text also implies that King Ólaf is the reincarnation of Ólaf Geirstaðaálfr. One thing is certain however, we must never give up in our quest to uncover our past, for in doing so, we wake up to the beauty of life and become as a blind man seeing color for the first time or a deaf child first hearing her mother’s voice. The richness of learning of our heritage is joy unspeakable.

EMPATHY
Why are you anxious? Why are you depressed?
I guess you could project it onto your life circumstances - you hate your job, your family has drama, you're dissatisfied with the options you have available, et cetera. And this would be true enough if you really were that insular individual that modernity has taught you to believe in.
But what if this heavy weight dragging from your chest was collective?
Empathy is the ability to feel the emotions of others. Everybody has that ability, some perhaps more than others. Everyone, barring the sociopath, is able to enmesh oneself in the presence of another and share in their experience.
Now there's "practicing" empathy in the mundane sense of trying to see things from another's perspective; and then there's BEING an empath, someone who collects the emotional residue from a broad field.
What if you were the latter, and that heavy weight was actually the collective suffering of your blood, past and present? It may be. At least entertain it.

Consider the extent of historical manipulation over the last 100 years.
What is being taught and understood by the masses is so far from the truth, that obtaining the truth would be the equivelant to waking up from the matrix.
If that is how bad it is for the last 100 years, then consider the last 2,000 years and the 10's of thousands of years prior to it.
Everytime a nation conquered another nation some truth was lost.
Everytime a universal religion wiped out others, they destroyed anything and anyone dangerous to their narratives.
Including history books, educated members of society, archeological findings, and sacred cultural sites.
The ultimate danger of moving further from the truth is self limitation, subjugation, and destruction.
The masses are incapable of their own reducation without several generations of a well designed system of learning.
It is far too much for the average person to grasp, to understand, or emotionally accept. That their whole perception of reality was a lie.

We are inherently pack-minded, leaving many susceptible to the machinations of the CoPa influencer. They tend to have good intentions & are relatively decent folk, but their hubris corrupts, thus affecting their choices. The CoPa is he who has an intelligence & or charisma, which naturally gathers attention. Being pack-minded, people follow. When one becomes conditioned to regular praise & is in a position of leadership, oftentimes, they fail to work with others, but need/want others to work with them. They use words like we & us, but it’s always them controlling; oftentimes exuding the attitude of “Do as you will, but only if it’s done how I say” & always with a feigned humility. These folks, despite their words, find ways to take credit for others work, though are smart enough to avoid using any incriminating words. Usually, it’s only those who have a history with these folks that can see the patterns.

~Inscription from the Glavendrup stone.
There is a large number of Neo-pagan’s today that flat-out refuse to acknowledge any hierarchy or authority from a religious perspective. It is safe to say that this is nothing short of anti-Christian, liberal reactionary behaviour, not even slightly based off of actual authentic polytheistic religious practice. This is especially prevalent in Heathen circles, where it has become rather pathological to reject any form of standards being placed on our religious revival. This is the most damaging approach anyone can take to reestablishing our ancient religion, some would say Logisc in nature.

Dangerous is the passive-aggressive attacker who revels in the debate who’s consumed with the hubris of his intelligence. He cares more about being right than what is right. His passive-aggressive tactics usually shield him from blame, as he’s always the one claiming innocence & feigning sincerity; one who’s just trying to find the truth. The CoPb usually has a large following, as his knowledge is extensive; thus, he typically wins debates. His followers are conditioned to accept his words as truth & reactionarily defend him, for the thought of losing access to his wealth of information is unfathomable. The CoPb has areas of study that elude him, but he cannot comprehend that he doesn’t understand something, which is when he goes into attack mode aiming to discredit his perceived opponent. We should separate a CoPb from his words, as his knowledge can be useful, but always be wary of the poisonous affect of getting too close.

One absolute certainty we have in regards to our revered ancestors tradition is that our folk had a Priesthood. This Priesthood was very powerful. Tacitus states (in Germania);
“But to reprimand, to imprison, even to flog, is permitted to the priests alone, and that not as a punishment, or at the general's bidding, but, as it were, by the mandate of the god whom they believe to inspire the warrior.”
They were deeply respected by our Germanic ancestors, to the point where in the Thing;
“Silence is proclaimed by the priests, who have on these occasions the right of keeping order.”

We all need to feel a sense of belonging. Survival decreased & quality of life lessens when we go it alone. Hence, why the bundle of sticks is strong, the pack dominates, & the organization is esteemed. We desire inclusion, which is why most are followers. It’s the CoPc-type that is the most dangerous of all. He’s the one who uses his intelligence to knowingly con, manipulate, & infiltrate whatever & whomever to achieve his desired goal. He has to be #1 & oftentimes uses his big voice to bully his opponents, while simultaneously speaking of all he’s done to help. He has a pattern of joining a group & hyping himself up to get into a position of power. Once there, he’ll sow seeds of division, then wait patiently as those seeds bear fruit. He then becomes quiet & eventually leaves. Mission accomplished. The CoPc is the worst kind of Logisċ, for he’s only interested in fame & adoration & will destroy all whom he perceives as a threat.

In pagan Iceland a Guþi was the spiritual and secular leader of their community. They are attested historically in the Gray Goose Laws (a law code believed to have been written in the 920’s), the Landnámabók (a “Book of Settlements,” from the 9th/10th century) and the Sturlunga Saga (a collection of many Saga’s regarding the settlement and history of Iceland). In the early Icelandic society the Nobility (or the most wealthy individual of a community) was expected to maintain the Hof which would itself serve secular and religious functions.
The sources also contain the title of Allsherjargoði (“All-Peoples-Chieftain”). In Iceland this was held by the direct descendants of the first Norse settler of Iceland, Ingólfr Arnarson. It was a largely ceremonial role to sanctify the Althing, but this does strongly indicate a hierarchy (a taboo word in modern Heathendom) of the priesthood.

The aforementioned Cult of Personality types are known throughout every social circle; however, not everyone desires, or fits into these categories. Some are the outliers; those who seek to go it alone, thus embracing self-mindedness & rejecting folk-mindedness. Oftentimes, he has a stubbornness, which similar the CoPb type, cares more about being right than what is right. This often manifests in a contentious personality where everything is argued against. He generally has a disdain for authority & cannot tolerate hierarchy of positions, even if those positions are legitimately earned. Resultantly, he falls into the fill-in-the-blanks religiosity of New Agism, which has many faces (not all congruent with each other). This susceptibility is from his inability to work with others, as he generally cannot admit wrong, despite evidence or logic presented. Not all lone wolves are “bad”, but it certainly isn’t a healthy place to be.

The Runestone I quoted at the start of this article mentioning a Goþi is located in Denmark on the island of Funen. It commemorates a man that was responsible for a sanctuary (ON: Vé) and was a Thegn (nobility). Another runestone that dates back to 400AD (Nordhuglo stone) is found in Norway and is strongly placing the title against sorcery. It specifies that those holding the title “is immune to sorcery,” or “does not practice sorcery,” depending upon translation.

In the 1950s, Solomon Asch conducted a series of psychological experiments & found people were willing to ignore reality & give incorrect answers in order to conform to the rest of the group. In another set of experiments, Stanley Milgram instructed his subjects to perform acts conflicting with their personal conscience. They were told to assist in administering electric shocks to someone. The shocks were fake, but they believed them to be real, with some of them being fatal had they been real. Every subject blindly obeyed giving the initial shocks, with 65% willing to cause to person intense pain. Fact is, a good many fall victim to the Cult of Personality, though many more succumb to the lowest common denominator - degeneracy.

There is a reason why women is said to be the heart of the family. There is no stronger motivational power than the love from a woman, a mother, a wife.
Just as the heart continues to make the blood pump and flow through the body, the woman motivates and inspires the family with her love and dedication. She makes the family whole.
It has been scientifically proven that just hearing your mother’s voice can reduce stress and releases oxytocin in the body, a strong healing hormone. Some experiments even show that a mother’s voice can even reach through the fog of a coma to bring a brain-injured patient back to consciousness.
This is why the last thoughts and last name spoken from many soldiers that have bled out after being shot or having their bodies torn apart on the battlefield have been the thoughts and name of their mother or darling back home. Screaming for them as they eventually go quiet and never comes home, buried in an unmarked grave.
Mothers, wives, are the most powerful inspiration in the world.
