Here is something guaranteed to make you smile.

Some 20 years ago, there was a book and a film that came out called ‘The Last Horseman’ that looked into the life of John Dodd, the last man to operate a horse-powered farm in Northumberland. He still ploughed his fields the traditional way, while every other farm in the country had mechanised.

In 1900 there was over 1,000,000 traditional working horses in Britain. In 2000, only a few remained.

Sadly in 2020, John passed away aged 91. But the farm remains strong. His grandsons continue to work the farm in the traditional way.

Not only this, but around Britain, others have started working farms in this traditional horse-powered way. This ancient way of life is making a comeback!

There are now traditional horse-powered (unmechanised) farms in Devon, Durham, Cambridgeshire, Hampshire and Wales. Possibly more that I’m unaware of atm.

Rest in Peace, John. You kept the flame burning, and now it’s being rekindled 🐴

To Germanic polytheists, the number nine is sacred and/or special to us. The ancient literature attests various examples of where and how the number nine is significant and important in various contexts regarding death, rebirth, the universe, the afterlife, the gods, and more:

-Nine is the number of worlds/homes connected via Yggdrasil, the cosmic world tree (Vǫluspá)
-Nine is the number of witches in the wood (iviði) existing before the present world tree (Vǫluspá)
-Nine are the mothers of Heimdallr
'World Dazzling', all sisters (Hyndluljóð, Heimdalargaldr, Snorri)
-Nine are the daughters owned by the ocean jötunn Aegir and Rán, personified in waves, streams, brightness and gold, often deadly (Snorri)
-Nine are the rune-carving daughters of the ocean god Njǫrðr, awaiting in the afterlife (Sólarljóð)
-Nine is the number of nights of the Nórna dómr - 'the verdict of the norns', where you sit in the Nornarstóll - 'the chair of the norns' after death, receiving your Fates' verdicts before moving on (Sólarljóð, Fafnismál) to what appears to be a whole specter of different afterlife possibilities
-Nine is the number of worlds in which Hel rules (Snorri)
-Nine is the number of worlds beneath Misty Hel (Vafþrúðnismál)
-Ninth is the heaven ruled by Freyia, Fólkvangr (Grímnismál)
-Nine, or three by nine, is the number of valkyriur riding together (Helgakviða I, II & H. Hiǫrvarðssonar)
-Nine is the number of nights that Odin hung on the tree (Hávamál)
-Nine is the number of nights that Hermóðr spent riding down to Hel (Snorri)
-Nine is the number of nights that Skírnir rode down to the death-realm of Gerðr (Skírnismál)
-Nine is the number of nights that Freyr must wait before he can meet Gerðr in the breezeless grove (Skírnismál)
-Nine is the number of spellsongs that Odin received when he hung
-Nine is the number of spellsongs that Odin made himself (Hávamál)
-Nine is the number of spellsongs that Gróa sang from her grave (Gróagaldr)
-Nine is the number of maidens seated beneath the Tree of Memory on the Mountain of Medicine (Fjölsvinnsmál)

Logadōm - Part 11

Before delving into the Logisċ personality types, let’s examine the Folkish versus Universalist debate. Typically, the folkish focus their lives on the love of their own, while seeking to build strong, healthy, & homogeneous families & communities, with the center of their lives being their faith; whereas, the Universalists focus their lives on all peoples, while seeking to build inclusive social units & communities, with the center of their lives being their politics. Now, not all Folkish & Universalists are as described, but as a general observation, it’s true enough. The common thread of Eoten chaos that connects these two ideologies is the emphasis on the acceptance that interpretation has little to no limits. There’s no research methodology nor are sources examined to their original source, which creates a fill-in-the-blanks religion that resembles a faith as if built off the telephone game. Interpretations built off interpretation in perpetuity.

Rites of Passage; Kóryos, Mannerbund, Agōgē and their Significance Today.

Part 12

Examples of potential rites of passage for adolescent boys could include martial arts training. Glima, an ancient Nordic martial art (specifically a type of wrestling) is seeing a modern resurgence as one example. Martial arts provide discipline and great physical exercise for people of all ages, and teach our children resilience (physically & mentally). The ability to get back up and try again is vital for anyone to succeed and there is no better way to learn this valuable lesson then being thrown into a fight.

Logadōm - Part 12

When a religion lack standards, it ceases to be a religion, but a social club with a faux spiritual veneer. A religion with standards, even if rooted in source material, but lacks a methodology of interpreting & vetting the sources, os still tainted by New Agism. Some argue this isn’t a bad thing, or against it being New Age, but even if in small degrees, it still creates a divide amongst our folk that, as time passes, divides more & more. The only way to course correct the errors, which we all suffer from, is to work together, continually analyzing ourselves & our religion to burn away the falsities. It’s not important that we agree on everything, but that we try. Different faith expressions are healthy & natural, but we cannot continue to live & act with pomposity. There are times when we can agree to disagree, but the subtle ignoring & indirect shadow bannings evidence the Eoten influence (or at the least one’s immaturity). Objectively, this is true.

Part 13

Another potential rite of passage is to teach our children survival skills. How to make a fire, how to set up a tent, how to cook, how to hunt. This can all be achieved with regular camping & hiking trips out into nature. Being exposed to nature will also foster an appreciation and respect for the land, and give our children something to strive to fight for.

Logadōm - Part 13

There are many ways that Logadōm influences both the Folkish & Universalist. The far-left Universalists reject natural law & revel in the chaos of everything is allowed & complete tolerance is the path of love. They bring up the account, recorded in Þrymskviða, when Þunor dresses as Frowe to trick Þrymr & retrieve his stolen hammer. They use this as evidence that our forebears & gods condoned gender bending. Another perversion is the saying that Wōden is the All-Father, not the Some-Father. First off, they fail to recognize that our faith is an ethnic faith, born out of the Germanic folk. They fail to recognize that their actions work to destroy the diversity inherent to this world; that love without limits is no love at all, but a destructive force that erases cultures, traditions, & biodiversity. In their quest for inclusion, families are destroyed & our faith becomes something unrecognizable to the faith our forebears practiced for thousands of years.

Part 14

These two examples are solid starting points that individual or small groups of heathens can easily involve themselves in. In my humble opinion the best case scenario would be for our communities to develop our own system that would include martial arts, survival & life skills and also an education of our ancestors sacred lore and history. This could be achieved by small family units that are dedicated, but would be easier to achieve if groups of Heathen families united together. A Heathen Scouting movement so to speak.

Logadōm - Part 14

There are many ways that Logadōm influences both the Folkish & Universalist. The far-right Folkish embrace natural law, but adopt the Ragnar Redbeard Might is Right mentality to the extreme. They tend to be the ones who follow the Hollywoodized image of a men’s-only club going around yelling “Valhalla!”, Skal!”, “Your God was nailed to a cross, my god has a hammer…!” & other such cringe-worthy attitudes. They tend to focus on that which they hate, though cloak it in the name of that which they love. The politics of Hollywood’s perverted version of National Socialism is at the front of their beliefs, which is just a different side of the same coin the Universalists hold. In doing so, they too become a destructive force erasing the cultures, traditions, & history of their own folk, as politics form their foundation. In the quest for purity, the faith becomes secondary & unrecognizable to the faith our forebears practiced for thousands of years.

Logadōm - Part 15

We live in the wulfyld, the wolf age, which brings us closer to godadōmisċ (ragnarǫk), & the Logisċ are everywhere. Our folk have been passive, tolerant, thinking the problem was someone else’s & not a threat to their way way of life; however, time has proven otherwise. Reality is opening the eyes of many to see that what was once a fringe element held in check by the rational majority has become the majority. The lunatics have taken over the asylum & every individual & family are either infected or forced to deal with infected loved ones. Today, good is bad & bad is good, right is wrong & hate is love; sickness is healthy. The wulfyld Heathen, & non-Heathen alike, are anti-Christian reactionaries, those inclined to Satanism (knowingly or unknowingly), Hippy-influenced hyper-individualists, cult-of-personality attention grabbers, worship-refusers, or those weaker-minded, but good-hearted folks, who simply don’t know any better.

The fear that Christians have is in the thought of letting go of their religion and facing a seeming void. It is the fear of not having something to replace it, that lack of belonging. As an aspect of communism, when they erase history, it is to leave people without a history to fall back on and leaves people with a sense of void where they desperately cling to what is currently available to them. Although Christianity tried very hard to eliminate our Aryan religions and heritage, it was unsuccessful. In this era we have more information at our disposal, an even more solid connection can be made with our past. We are at the brink of rebirthing our ancient religions to a level that is practical and applicable today. Through a tedious effort and study of all that is available we can resurrect a semblance of what was and continue being spiritually unique. A hats off to all Aryans in our history who have preserved our past in anyway possible.

Anglo Saxon hanging bowls

A theory about the Anglo Saxon hanging bowls is they may have served as wash basins.

The Germanic peoples valued hygiene as much as they did hospitality, and according to the Hávamál, one of the first things a host should provide a guest is water and washcloths.

Anglo Saxon hanging bowls are often lavishly decorated, and found in high status burials, including the Sutton Hoo burial. An interesting detail is the decoration often shows Celtic influence, and no continental parallels are known. If these bowls were used for washing, they could serve as physical symbol of a Cyning or Dryhten’s hospitality; he’d give you water from his finest bowl.

Another thing is, the body of the bowl is always made of copper or bronze; which is antimicrobial, and would clean the water. The purifying properties of copper were known in the ancient world; the Ayurveda advises to store water in copper vessels.

I was asked about the Folcsida Ġerīmbōc. There’s always been more than one calendar reckoning with our forebears, as with us today. Historically, calendars would shift; altered as new systems were discovered & various parts incorporated to aid accuracy & workability. A link to the beginning of the Folcsida Ġerīmbōc essay (up to 43 parts): https://t.me/TheFrithstead/798. I’m planning finishing the series covering the remaining observances when they arrive. I also speak on the calendar in the Sacred Strew episode (linked here: https://linktr.ee/TheFrithstead). One thing of note, is that Folcsida is not strict reconstructionist nor is it anachronistic. It seeks not to copy the past, but build off it. It seeks not to become anachronistic, for it is a living spirituality grown from, & evolving from our native ancestral faith. We could spend our time arguing/debating over this system or that system, but we live in 2022 & the best path forward is to live today by building off the past; utilizing a practical system.

The Nature Artists - Part 2

Are the Ylfe our Male Ancestors?

Much of history is indeed lost or obscured, which makes it difficult to reclaim that which we have lost and rediscover that which has been stolen. The idea that the Ylfe are our male ancestors is rooted in the folklore of our forebears. Folklore is a mix of truth and fiction; originally utilized as a way to preserve our history in a way where it could be hidden in plain sight. A folk begins with living in truth, then when obfuscation occurs, we hold on tight to what we know is true, but this is when the obscuring takes place, both intentionally by the offending party and unintentionally by the innocent party. The slide continues until we reach where we are today where the overwhelming masses are amnesiac to their history, have abandoned their culture, forgotten their ancestors, and have embraced chaotic emptiness of degeneracy. The slide is seen as such - Truth is in the Lore and Skaldic Poetry, or any other text written by Heathen authors. Then, sliding a bit further we have the Sagas, where a dual-faith was practiced. This is where we have embellishments, half-truths, and when foreign elements begin to be woven into the truth. It’s just enough to both make a good entertaining story, set hold enough Heathen truth and historical accuracy to be a valuable research tool. Even with the embellishments, the truth is there, in plain sight, for all who seek. Next, is when the folk have forgotten much of their past, having adopted a foreign creed, and it’s various ideologies, but in their subconscious, in their blood, manifested in the traditions they perform, and through the faint whisperings in their ears from their ancestors and gods, folklore emerges. Folklore is seen as fiction, and rightly so, for much of it is, but in its depths are kernels of ancient truths and nuggets of Heathen wisdom. It’s as if the truth sits on the bottom of a lake, resting on the Sandy floor, waiting to be brought to the surface. One just has to make the dive and analyze the texts. One such example is the motif of fairy godmothers, where they work with fate; reminiscent of the Norns of Orlæġ, Wyrd, Weorðende, and Sċyld. Until finally, the stories become pure fiction with tales of Sherlock Holmes, Superman, Lord of The Rings, or the Matrix. Yet even Sherlock inspired us to seek truth, Superman, akin to Béowulf, tells us to be honorable & brave, Lord of the Rings inspires us to remember our ancient ways, and the Matrix begs us to break free from our chains and return home. To complete the circle, I don’t believe that the Ylfe began as our ancestors, but we do have tales of the gods siring children with the daughters of man. It’s possible that this folkloric belief is rooted in the ancestral memory of when the gods sired family lines in Middanġeard. One such example is found in Þáttr Ólafs Geirstaða Alfs, where King Ólaf rides past his forebear and namesake’s burial mound. His forebear, is now called Ólaf Geirstaðaálfr - “Olaf, the Elf of Geirstad.” This title implies the ylfen state of Ólaf’s forefather. The text also implies that King Ólaf is the reincarnation of Ólaf Geirstaðaálfr. One thing is certain however, we must never give up in our quest to uncover our past, for in doing so, we wake up to the beauty of life and become as a blind man seeing color for the first time or a deaf child first hearing her mother’s voice. The richness of learning of our heritage is joy unspeakable.

EMPATHY

Why are you anxious? Why are you depressed?

I guess you could project it onto your life circumstances - you hate your job, your family has drama, you're dissatisfied with the options you have available, et cetera. And this would be true enough if you really were that insular individual that modernity has taught you to believe in.

But what if this heavy weight dragging from your chest was collective?

Empathy is the ability to feel the emotions of others. Everybody has that ability, some perhaps more than others. Everyone, barring the sociopath, is able to enmesh oneself in the presence of another and share in their experience.

Now there's "practicing" empathy in the mundane sense of trying to see things from another's perspective; and then there's BEING an empath, someone who collects the emotional residue from a broad field.

What if you were the latter, and that heavy weight was actually the collective suffering of your blood, past and present? It may be. At least entertain it.

Consider the extent of historical manipulation over the last 100 years.

What is being taught and understood by the masses is so far from the truth, that obtaining the truth would be the equivelant to waking up from the matrix.

If that is how bad it is for the last 100 years, then consider the last 2,000 years and the 10's of thousands of years prior to it.

Everytime a nation conquered another nation some truth was lost.

Everytime a universal religion wiped out others, they destroyed anything and anyone dangerous to their narratives.

Including history books, educated members of society, archeological findings, and sacred cultural sites.

The ultimate danger of moving further from the truth is self limitation, subjugation, and destruction.

The masses are incapable of their own reducation without several generations of a well designed system of learning.

It is far too much for the average person to grasp, to understand, or emotionally accept. That their whole perception of reality was a lie.

The Cult of Personality a

We are inherently pack-minded, leaving many susceptible to the machinations of the CoPa influencer. They tend to have good intentions & are relatively decent folk, but their hubris corrupts, thus affecting their choices. The CoPa is he who has an intelligence & or charisma, which naturally gathers attention. Being pack-minded, people follow. When one becomes conditioned to regular praise & is in a position of leadership, oftentimes, they fail to work with others, but need/want others to work with them. They use words like we & us, but it’s always them controlling; oftentimes exuding the attitude of “Do as you will, but only if it’s done how I say” & always with a feigned humility. These folks, despite their words, find ways to take credit for others work, though are smart enough to avoid using any incriminating words. Usually, it’s only those who have a history with these folks that can see the patterns.
