Today is the Onsæġungdæġ, where we give our gods our Nýtenoffrung.

This month [Blōtmōnaþ] is the month of sacrifice, because our forefathers, when they were heathens, always sacrificed in this month, that is, that they took and devoted to their idols the cattle which they wished to offer. In this month that the cattle which were to be slaughtered were dedicated to the gods”

The Folcsida Ġerímbóc: Observances (Part 43)

On the Mónaþfyllen (Full Moon) of Blótmónaþ 18, 2022, or November 8th, we have Onsæġungdæġ, our Sacrifice Offering Day where we perform our Nýtenoffrung (Animal Offerings). With the weather cooling & Summer is behind us, Winter is nigh. Our forebears relied on animals for food & in the cold of winter, the crops would lessen, thus providing less food for our families & animals. Many of the animals wouldn’t survive the cold, with food lessening & fewer animals held greater chances of surviving the winter. On Onsæġungdæġ, we offer an animal to the gods & ask that they help us get through the hardships of winter. If one doesn’t have an animal to process, we can offer a piece of meat, or even an animal product such as milk or butter. With animal sacrifice, we must remember that the animal is consumed by the ones making the offering; it’s never left to rot. This is no different to a hunter eating his kill & praying over his meal.

Logadōm - Part 8

Why do pseudo-Heathens look to Loga? Is he alone? Are there not other chaotic powers? Throughout the lore, we have numerous accounts of the evil Eoten Goldwǽġe, also known as Hād & Angebod (the Norse Gullveig, Heið, & Angrboða). She is his counterpart & the “Father” of his the three children. Thrice burnt for her evil deeds, each time Loga ate her heart to birth the monsters: Eormenġeandor, Sċīnlǣċe, & Fenna (the Norse Jörmungandr, Leikn, & Fenrir). The same Eoten who spread Bealocræft (Seiðr) amongst mankind in opposition to Hāma’s gifts of order & culture. We must ask the question: with knowing that Loga is bound, sentenced, & punished as a nīðing for his unforgivable crimes, what makes one believe that he has the power or ability to spread chaos? How does one know that Goldwǽġe isn’t acting on his behalf?

Deconstructing The Gods- The Christian Conversion Part 2

James and Anthony have a follow up conversation about the christian conversion of the germanic folk. We explore the origins of the philosophical ideas that were used to deconstruct the germanic gods and to convince our ancestors to abandon their native faith only to become adherents of a foreign religion. This is part 2 of a series wherein we examine the modus operandis of the church and how the theological concepts of our belief system were subverted over time. Join us for a deep dive into Join us for a deep dive into authentic Germanic theology for the modern pagan.

Part 9

It’s clear that modern man is lacking in many aspects. There is now a strong focus on their rights, and a strong aversion to any form of responsibility. I propose that a large part of this modern weakness is the lack of any meaningful rite of passage. To have no rite of passage is to never be held accountable and to never be held to a minimum standard. All in modernity are treated as equals despite all evidence being to the contrary. The ancient Greeks Olympic Games had only a single winner per event, and everyone else was a loser. Second place was as good as last place to the Greeks. Today we have participation trophies. Young men and women have no institution to properly prepare themselves for the harsh realities of life and are instead coddled.

Logadōm - Part 9

Understanding the Loga-Goldwǽġe relationship is important, if one wants understand the elements of chaos in the higher realms. Recorded on the lore, these two have been at the forefront of sewing perpetual seeds of destruction, while the gods continually work to uphold the law of honor & order. While it’s true Wyrd’s decree has fated that Godadōmisċ (Old Norse Ragnarǫk), the final judgement of the gods, it is our duty to follow Wōden’s example & fight against the forces of chaos. Wyrd may be propelling us forward, but our orlæġ can still be threads weaving an honorable life with great deeds. When we stand by the gods & fight to preserve our way of life, if we suffer or die, then that was Wyrd’s decree & we couldn’t have prevented it; however, if we succeed, then more glory to us & the legacy we leave, for it wasn’t Wyrd’s decree that we fail. In either scenario, our charge doesn’t change. This is our way, the Wōdenic way.

Part 10

These are the symptoms of a lack of rites of passage. What is the cure? To begin forcefully separating our teenage children from their families for a six month period and making them kill & eat their family dog? This is probably a bit excessive, and certainly would have animal & child protection services after us.

What are the alternatives? The ideal for our modern Heathen revival would be to develop our own appropriate rites of passages.

Logadóm - Part 10

In Quakerism Examined, John Wilkinson stated that “One of the artifices of Satan is, to induce men to believe that he does not exist”. This, along with the gods seemingly leaving us to our own devices, creates within many a false sense of reality; one that’s warped by the chaotic influences of Loga & Goldwǣġe. Although, Wilkinson was speaking of the Semitic Satan, an analogy can be made between Satan & Loga & Goldwǣġe, as all three are sewers of chaos, discord, strife, & perversion. Many, regardless of religion, or lack thereof, are under the spell of the Eotens, who care not who believes in them or not; they care only that their plan is carried out. In the blame game, we’re conditioned to look at the puppets & stay within the dualistic box created for us. Some, thinking they’re smart, see the strings. A few might see the hands that pull the strings, but fewer still can see the faces behind it all. Our folk are depending on us. The time is now to wake up

Part 11

A naming ceremony when a baby is 9 days old was a tradition that is attested by our ancestors in the Sagas. This would be the moment a man would either accept a child and give them a name (usually the name of a great ancestor), or traditionally if the child was sickly or they doubted paternity would reject the child. To give a child a name would be to symbolically accept them into the fathers family and caste position. To not do so would condemn the child to Thralldom. This tradition was a rite of passage and has been incorporated into many Heathen kindreds practices, and should be encouraged.

Demons

The demons they surround me
They whisper in my ear
They tell me lies and confuse me
With things I need not hear

They tear me into pieces
Their words dark and bleak
When I try to take a stand
They refuse to let me speak

They thrive upon my weakness
They feed upon my pain
When I’m in their presence
All I know is shame

It seems they’ll never leave
Yet I struggle everyday
So I hold out hope as little it be
I’ll conquer them someway

Here is something guaranteed to make you smile.

Some 20 years ago, there was a book and a film that came out called ‘The Last Horseman’ that looked into the life of John Dodd, the last man to operate a horse-powered farm in Northumberland. He still ploughed his fields the traditional way, while every other farm in the country had mechanised.

In 1900 there was over 1,000,000 traditional working horses in Britain. In 2000, only a few remained.

Sadly in 2020, John passed away aged 91. But the farm remains strong. His grandsons continue to work the farm in the traditional way.

Not only this, but around Britain, others have started working farms in this traditional horse-powered way. This ancient way of life is making a comeback!

There are now traditional horse-powered (unmechanised) farms in Devon, Durham, Cambridgeshire, Hampshire and Wales. Possibly more that I’m unaware of atm.

Rest in Peace, John. You kept the flame burning, and now it’s being rekindled 🐴

To Germanic polytheists, the number nine is sacred and/or special to us. The ancient literature attests various examples of where and how the number nine is significant and important in various contexts regarding death, rebirth, the universe, the afterlife, the gods, and more:

-Nine is the number of worlds/homes connected via Yggdrasil, the cosmic world tree (Vǫluspá)
-Nine is the number of witches in the wood (iviði) existing before the present world tree (Vǫluspá)
-Nine are the mothers of Heimdallr
'World Dazzling', all sisters (Hyndluljóð, Heimdalargaldr, Snorri)
-Nine are the daughters owned by the ocean jötunn Aegir and Rán, personified in waves, streams, brightness and gold, often deadly (Snorri)
-Nine are the rune-carving daughters of the ocean god Njǫrðr, awaiting in the afterlife (Sólarljóð)
-Nine is the number of nights of the Nórna dómr - 'the verdict of the norns', where you sit in the Nornarstóll - 'the chair of the norns' after death, receiving your Fates' verdicts before moving on (Sólarljóð, Fafnismál) to what appears to be a whole specter of different afterlife possibilities
-Nine is the number of worlds in which Hel rules (Snorri)
-Nine is the number of worlds beneath Misty Hel (Vafþrúðnismál)
-Ninth is the heaven ruled by Freyia, Fólkvangr (Grímnismál)
-Nine, or three by nine, is the number of valkyriur riding together (Helgakviða I, II & H. Hiǫrvarðssonar)
-Nine is the number of nights that Odin hung on the tree (Hávamál)
-Nine is the number of nights that Hermóðr spent riding down to Hel (Snorri)
-Nine is the number of nights that Skírnir rode down to the death-realm of Gerðr (Skírnismál)
-Nine is the number of nights that Freyr must wait before he can meet Gerðr in the breezeless grove (Skírnismál)
-Nine is the number of spellsongs that Odin received when he hung
-Nine is the number of spellsongs that Odin made himself (Hávamál)
-Nine is the number of spellsongs that Gróa sang from her grave (Gróagaldr)
-Nine is the number of maidens seated beneath the Tree of Memory on the Mountain of Medicine (Fjölsvinnsmál)

Logadōm - Part 11

Before delving into the Logisċ personality types, let’s examine the Folkish versus Universalist debate. Typically, the folkish focus their lives on the love of their own, while seeking to build strong, healthy, & homogeneous families & communities, with the center of their lives being their faith; whereas, the Universalists focus their lives on all peoples, while seeking to build inclusive social units & communities, with the center of their lives being their politics. Now, not all Folkish & Universalists are as described, but as a general observation, it’s true enough. The common thread of Eoten chaos that connects these two ideologies is the emphasis on the acceptance that interpretation has little to no limits. There’s no research methodology nor are sources examined to their original source, which creates a fill-in-the-blanks religion that resembles a faith as if built off the telephone game. Interpretations built off interpretation in perpetuity.

Examples of potential rites of passage for adolescent boys could include martial arts training. Glima, an ancient Nordic martial art (specifically a type of wrestling) is seeing a modern resurgence as one example. Martial arts provide discipline and great physical exercise for people of all ages, and teach our children resilience (physically & mentally). The ability to get back up and try again is vital for anyone to succeed and there is no better way to learn this valuable lesson then being thrown into a fight.

Logadōm - Part 12

When a religion lack standards, it ceases to be a religion, but a social club with a faux spiritual veneer. A religion with standards, even if rooted in source material, but lacks a methodology of interpreting & vetting the sources, os still tainted by New Agism. Some argue this isn’t a bad thing, or against it being New Age, but even if in small degrees, it still creates a divide amongst our folk that, as time passes, divides more & more. The only way to course correct the errors, which we all suffer from, is to work together, continually analyzing ourselves & our religion to burn away the falsities. It’s not important that we agree on everything, but that we try. Different faith expressions are healthy & natural, but we cannot continue to live & act with pomposity. There are times when we can agree to disagree, but the subtle ignoring & indirect shadow bannings evidence the Eoten influence (or at the least one’s immaturity). Objectively, this is true.

Another potential rite of passage is to teach our children survival skills. How to make a fire, how to set up a tent, how to cook, how to hunt. This can all be achieved with regular camping & hiking trips out into nature. Being exposed to nature will also foster an appreciation and respect for the land, and give our children something to strive to fight for.

Logadōm - Part 13

There are many ways that Logadōm influences both the Folkish & Universalist. The far-left Universalists reject natural law & revel in the chaos of everything is allowed & complete tolerance is the path of love. They bring up the account, recorded in Þrymskviða, when Þunor dresses as Frowe to trick Þrymr & retrieve his stolen hammer. They use this as evidence that our forebears & gods condoned gender bending. Another perversion is the saying that Wōden is the All-Father, not the Some-Father. First off, they fail to recognize that our faith is an ethnic faith, born out of the Germanic folk. They fail to recognize that their actions work to destroy the diversity inherent to this world; that love without limits is no love at all, but a destructive force that erases cultures, traditions, & biodiversity. In their quest for inclusion, families are destroyed & our faith becomes something unrecognizable to the faith our forebears practiced for thousands of years.
