Which one of you is leaking this info to the public?
Fortune, of course, is a monster, and she toys with those for whom she intends catastrophe, showing her friendly face and lifting them up before dashing them down wen they are least prepared for it. Think about that. You know what she is like and how she behaves, and you know too, that anything you had from her hands was not worth having, and in losing those things you have lost nothing of importance.
- Lady Philosophy in Boethius' Consolation
How happy were men long ago,
when they were content with nature
and not yet corrupted by wealth:
their hungers were easily sated
by acorns they found on the ground.
They had not yet learned to mix
sweet honey into their wine.
They did not dress up in silks
dyed bright with Tyrian purple.
They fell asleep on the grass
and drank from a nearby stream.
In the hot noons they would sit
in the shade of a towering pine.
They did not chop down these trees
to fashion the keels of boats
to sail on the seas and venture
to unknown shores and peoples.
No bugle calls then had sounded
to summon men to bloodshed
in hatred or naked greed
that stained the fi elds with blood,
for what could men gain from killing?
Look at us now and compare
our lives to those of the ancients.
As fierce as the fi res of Etna
is the lust of men for plunder.
Shame, shame on the man
who first dug gold from the earth
and brought the bright baubles of jewelers
into the light of the sun.

- Boethius, The Consolation of Philosophy
Those who have a lot need a lot. It’s expensive to be rich!

What do you mean reacting angrily and forming a violent mob made things worse? Who could have seen this coming? D:
🤔

How much do you, the Daily Poor subscriber, need to feel happy?

For the record, I do kinda doubt this is real. Don't think the ratio between the Millennial number and the Gen z number should be that extreme.

Will have a look at the methodology, perhaps, after I go shovel the snow we got overnight

Guy who runs a business near me stopped by my house a bit ago, offering to pay for my snow removal so I didn't have to shovel it myself. Dude seemed genuinely upset when I declined, "I don't want you to lose a toe or something, man, it's cold out there."

Let's check in on migrants in Chicago who find themselves living in...

*Checks notes*

"Some sort of habitat."
Hmm, do I want to make a 6 hour round trip for Arby's?
"Some" is doing a lot of work here, but still amusing.

And "some"how, no one gives a shit how they feel about all their money. Look the fact is this: Folks whose household bring in $150k, $250k, none of them feel "rich" and that is the whole point of money, to always need more. Compare today's living standards with 90-100yrs ago, mfrs were starving day to day in families of 10 kids! No one had a cell phone no one had free clothes, the programs didn't exist! Brainwashing has been so successful that society does not actually have any organic troubles except the humans that create them (plandemic)
