I shall next give you a Sketch of some of Mr. Samuel Adams’ Features; & I do not know how to delineate them stronger, than by the Observation made by a celebrated Painter in America, vizt. “That if he wished to draw the Picture of the Devil, that he would get Sam Adams to sit for him:” & indeed, a very ordinary Physiognomist would, at a transient View of his Countenance, develope the Malignity of his Heart. He was a Person of Understanding, but it was discoverable rather by a Shrewdness than Solidity of Judgment; & he understood human Nature, in low life, so well, that he could turn the Minds of the great Vulgar as well as the small into any Course that he might chuse; perhaps he was a singular Instance in this Kind; & he never failed of employing his Abilities to the vilest Purposes.

Some of the kids I teach in NC had their school closed today because the teachers supported and organized student protests against ICE deportations. Lol.

Think about this for a moment. Those are the sorts of people that are teaching the kids right now. Let's imagine Trump went turbo mode and removed 100% of the brownoids from the country.

What's going to happen when these kids educated primarily by turbo libs are adults? The culture shifts left, as usual. This is a big part of why the right loses.

If you want to win, one of the necessary moves is to gut the school system and remove your enemies from positions from which they can poison young minds and turn them against you, preferably replacing them with your own guys who will teach the kids your own ideas.

A question to ask: can Trump do this? If yes, why doesn't he? If not, how many times more powerful would he need to be to do it?
Hmm. It seems like there could really be a market for independent courses that build literacy.

1) Almost everybody cares about universal (or near universal) literacy and wants either to read well themselves or for their kids to read well or both.
2) The ways this is taught now in schools are nonsense.
3) Even if they weren't nonsense, standards are not strictly applied and so the output is nonsense anyways and a school saying a child is literature is no good indication of such.

What would such a course look like? Probably something like this:

Start with phonics. Move through the basics to the advanced on that subject. Move on to roots and other morphological study. Focus a bit on vocabulary, leaning heavily into pre 1900s English. Build a foundation of basic reading comprehension skills, such as determining what a text is about and what its main message is. Include focus on doing that quickly via skimming, with a special focus on how to engage with a table of contents and index. Move on to analysis, wherein the parts of the book are understood, the arguments' relationship to the main point made clear. Lastly, and most challengingly, explore syntopical reading, the reading of multiple books about the same subject in order to develop a larger understanding.

On the other hand, this is difficult and people, being who they are today, are probably more likely to fall into traps wherein the skill is made easy or even "fun." I can see the ads now. "Want to read better? Just 10 minutes of this fun game a day improves comprehension!"

Gamification is one of the worst elements of the modern world. Our ancestors look upon us in abject horror.
Umm, actually, the brain is still developing until you're 35, so until that point you shouldn't be able to make any important life decisions.
