Food insecurity is a catastrophic issue with the indigenous in the NT. There is no black privilege here, no free anything, nothing. Yet these people are such beautiful human beings. They don't want this voice rubbish, they want food security, adequate housing, heating and cooling (yes Alice Springs is known as a Solar City). They want to be able to afford the food they're forced to buy at exorbitant prices THAT ARE OWNED BY INDIGENOUS CHARITIES claiming tax free concessions because their alleged purpose is to bring relief to the indigenous, to eradicate poverty, to close the gap. But the ugly truth is, is it is these exact organisations that are responsible for the poverty, for the lack of food security, and for the whole sh!tshow currently that is Alice Springs. #VoteNO #NoVoice #VoteNoAustralia.

GOVERNMENT TO LAUNCH INQUIRY INTO FEDERAL, STATE, AND TERRITORY, RESPONSE TO C-19 'PANDEMIC'.
An inquiry is set to be announced into the state, territory and federal governments' response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Anthony Albanese and Health Minister Mark Butler will announce the inquiry in Adelaide this morning.
University of Melbourne epidemiologist Nancy Baxter said the inquiry should provide an important reflection on the country's pandemic response but added that she hoped it would look at the effect COVID-19 was still having on the population.
"I think when you're looking at lockdowns and the way we had to manage the pandemic, that a large amount of that was because we had had such delayed access to mRNA vaccines," she said.
"I don't think a witch-hunt is useful at this point".

The Conversation
A 14-day rolling average of 5 new daily cases is the wrong trigger for easing Melbourne lockdown. Let’s look at ‘under investigation’…
The focus, for some time, has been on new daily case numbers. But what if we are looking at the wrong figure? We should focus on the average number of cases "under investigation" over the last 14 days.

WHAT DOES THIS HIGH COURT DECISION TELL US (PRECEDENCE)?
The High Court held that no freestanding guarantee of freedom to move wherever one wishes for whatever reason is implicit in the Constitution on any of the three grounds contended for by the plaintiffs.
First, the Court held that such a limitation on the legislative and executive power of the Commonwealth and States could not be implied from the fact of federation. Rather, the legal nature and effect of the federation established by the Constitution can be known only from the terms and structure of the Constitution itself; those terms and that structure provide no support for the limitation on power for which the plaintiffs contended.
Secondly, the Court held that while legislated limits on movement that burden political communication may infringe the implied freedom of political communication, a limit on movement which does not have a political character will not.
Thirdly, the Court held that s 92 of the Constitution does not imply a freedom of movement of the kind for which the plaintiffs contended. Such an implication would render otiose the delineation clearly drawn by the text of s 92 between protected interstate intercourse and intrastate intercourse which it does not purport to protect. It would also attribute to the text a meaning rejected by the framers of the Constitution.

HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSIONER CRITICAL OF C-19 INQUIRY SCOPE.
Thursday 21 September, 2023
Human Rights Commissioner Lorraine Finlay said:
"The decision to exclude actions taken unilaterally by state and territory governments means many key aspects of Australia’s response will go unexamined. Australia is a federation and needs an inquiry that reflects this.
The lack of a stated focus on how Australia’s COVID response impacted on the human rights of people is also concerning.
The policy decisions taken by all governments – as well as the implementation of those decisions – had significant human rights implications for people here in Australia and overseas. These may end up being considered by the inquiry but not having human rights explicitly part of the key terms of reference is disappointing.
We need to ensure the rights and freedoms that were lost during the pandemic are better protected into the future and we need to ensure the human cost of the pandemic is properly understood so our emergency responses in the future don’t leave people or their rights behind.”
