The following are copies of four telegrams between President Harry Truman and General Douglas MacArthur on the day before the actual signing of the WWII Surrender Agreement in September 1945.

I'm standing in the Museum at Tenterfield which pays tribute to the oration speech given by Henry Parkes.

We look at the state of our government and you can hardly tell the difference between the major parties, they’ve forgotten who they serve, and aren’t listening. You can’t understand their policies as it’s just dollar figures without any real substance.

Standing here I felt like I needed to deliver a speech in that room to reunite us as a country to remember not only how we became a federation, but why. The sacrifice our ancestors made for our freedoms have been stripped and it’s time to turn the boat around and get back to our constitutional rights and celebrate our common unity as a community.
