India considers cryptocurrency a threat
Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das launched another attack against digital tokens, claiming they have no underlying value and pose a threat to financial stability.
"Cryptocurrency investors should keep in mind that the cryptocurrency has no underlying, not even a tulip," the Reserve Bank of India governor said Thursday, referring to the market bubble popped in 17th-century Holland over tulip bulbs.
Proponents of cryptocurrencies, who feared New Delhi might even ban digital currencies, took the introduction of a tax on them as a sign of their official acceptance, despite strong reservations from the country's central bank.
There are between 15 and 20 million cryptocurrency investors in India, and cryptocurrencies total about 400 billion Indian rupees ($5.34 billion).

Ripple became a member of the Digital Euro Association
The Digital Euro Association (DEA), a think tank specializing in various forms of digital money such as CBDC, private cryptocurrencies and stablecoins, has added Ripple to its list of partners.
The blockchain company will assist the association in its work on the CBDC pilot project.
The DEA said Ripple was chosen as a partner based on the expertise its team has in central bank digital currencies (CBDC).
Previously, Ripple was the CBDC development partner of the Royal Bhutan Monetary Authority.
