A legend has passed away. Chuck Norris died at the age of 86. There are lots of jokes circulating about him because he only ever lost two fights. 🔍 Was wissen wir wirklich über den Äther?
Ich bekomme immer wieder Nachrichten mit der Frage: "Wo kann ich das nachlesen? Gibt es dazu echte Quellen?"
Ja. Die gibt es. Und es sind keine obskuren Randnotizen — es sind Primärwerke von Physikern, Chemikern, Philosophen und Forschern, die Jahrzehnte ihres Lebens diesem Thema gewidmet haben. Bevor der Begriff institutionell aus den Lehrbüchern verschwand.
Nehmt euch Zeit, lest selbst. Niemand muss euch etwas glauben — aber lest die Originale.
Zur Geschichte: Wann verschwand der Äther aus der Wissenschaft?
Kein einzelnes Datum. Ein Prozess — und ein politisch-institutioneller dazu.
1887 führten Michelson und Morley ihr Interferometerexperiment durch. Das Nullresultat wurde als Widerlegung des Äthers interpretiert — obwohl es das streng genommen nicht war: Es zeigte lediglich, dass die Erde keinen messbaren Drift durch einen ruhenden Äther erzeugte. Nicht mehr, nicht weniger.
Ebenfalls 1887 veröffentlichte der Mathematiker Woldemar Voigt die Transformationsgleichungen, die später als Grundlage der Lorentz-Transformation galten. H.A. Lorentz übernahm diese Gleichungen 1904 in seine Elektrotheorie — ohne Voigts Namen zu nennen. Erst 1913, in einer Fußnote einer Monographie, erkannte Lorentz die Äquivalenz zu Voigts Arbeit von 1887 an.
In den frühen 1920er Jahren wurde der Äther institutionell aus den Standardlehrbüchern gestrichen. Nicht weil er widerlegt war — sondern weil er für die neu aufgestellten mathematischen Modelle als "nicht notwendig" galt.
1931 erschien das Sammelwerk "Hundert Autoren gegen Einstein", herausgegeben von Dr. Hans Israel, Dr. Erich Ruckhaber und Dr. Rudolf Weinmann — ein dokumentierter wissenschaftlicher Widerstand, der bis heute kaum zitiert wird.
