Curious about how much decision-making we should trust to AI?

Join us this Wednesday for a thoughtful, open conversation on whether algorithms should make life-changing decisions about humans.

This is part of our bi-weekly AI meetup; a space where anyone interested in AI and tech comes together to learn, share ideas, and connect.

Whether you're just getting started or already in the field, you’ll find a welcoming community and meaningful conversations. No technical background needed, just bring your perspective.

We’re back with this week’s AI Meetup, and this one’s a little more fun 🤗

This time, we’re getting into AI and the human side of things: love, connection, and everything in between.

Expect open conversations, unexpected turns, and plenty of different perspectives. No pressure, just good vibes and interesting discussions.

So hey... at yesterday’s AI meetup, a fun conversation quickly turned into a real debate.

We found ourselves split between two ideas while talking about AI, love, and human relationships:

Would you trust AI with your dating life, sharing your experiences, highs and lows, and letting it analyze people for you?
Or would you rather turn to a real friend for honest perspective and guidance?

It got surprisingly heated (you definitely missed out if you weren’t there 😄), but we wanted to bring the question here too because we’re genuinely curious what you think.

Yesterday's conversation opened up a few distinctions worth holding in mind before answering.

The first is about information. An AI only knows what you type to it — a sample of your thoughts, often unusually honest because there's no image to protect and no social cost. A friend knows you differently: your tone, your body language, how you actually behave over years, the cultural context you share. These are different kinds of data about the same person, and each captures things the other misses.

A second distinction is about what happens during the act of sharing. When two humans share something emotionally heavy, the conversation itself does work beyond the topic — it builds a bond, strengthens trust, reinforces a relationship that may matter later in ways neither person can predict. Sharing with an AI also builds something: context. Over time, the system learns your preferences, your sensitivities, the shape of your thinking, and that accumulated context makes its help sharper. But the purpose is different. One exchange deepens a relationship between two people; the other sharpens a tool's understanding of one person.

There are other threads the group raised: whether we unconsciously shape what we tell each source, how much delivery and tone matter when receiving advice, who is accountable when the guidance turns out wrong, and how we actually go on to implement what we hear. Underneath all of it sits the balance between emotion and logic — humans can pull us toward emotional distortion, and people often turn to AI precisely to correct for that.

The poll sits on top of all of this. The question is not which source is smarter or kinder, but which one are you finding preferring to share more details of your relationships — and what you think you're really getting when you do.
One more week left until the Tenacious Recruitment Program (TRP 1) wraps up… and honestly, we’re proud to witness this journey in real time.

A few weeks ago it was confusion, Googling, trying to make sense of all the AI terms

Now?
They’re building agents, solving problems, stress-testing systems, and thinking way beyond just code.

The growth, the mindset shift, the confidence… yeah, it’s been real.

From the series: Questions AI Researchers Are Still Exploring

Ever noticed how AI can sound brilliant… and then suddenly forget key details?
That’s not a bug, it’s one of the biggest challenges researchers are still trying to solve.

Here’s why AI memory is harder than it looks.

Yesterday, we invited our Tenacious Recruitment Program trainees for a special session on 'Harness Engineering' , a conversation about what really makes AI systems useful beyond just the model itself.

One of the biggest takeaways is that AI is not just “the model.” The real power comes from the system around it: memory, tools, workflows, validation, and the human judgment guiding it all.

What made the session engaging was how it connected deep technical ideas to something everyone could relate to: technology is only valuable when it works reliably for people in the real world.

From context engineering and memory systems to human judgment and AI orchestration, the discussion challenged us to think beyond prompts, and toward building dependable, human-centered AI systems.

A meaningful way to close the final week of the TRP 1 program: learning not just how to use AI, but how to design systems around it thoughtfully.

From the series: Questions AI Researchers Are Still Exploring

Researchers kept making AI models bigger…
and somehow, they kept becoming dramatically more capable.

Suddenly they could write code, solve complex problems, reason through tasks, and display abilities nobody explicitly programmed into them.

And here’s the surprising part:
even AI researchers still debate why this works so well.

So what exactly happens when AI scales?
And why does “bigger” suddenly lead to behaviors that feel almost intelligent?

Getting graduates ready for a digital, connected world isn't just about giving them access to technology, It's about working together, trying new things, and having honest, sometimes tough, conversations.

That's why we were excited to be part of the Association of African Business Schools Conference in Addis Ababa. It gave us a real chance to talk about how African schools can help students become not just digitally skilled, but truly ready to compete and innovate on a global stage.

We would like to thank Philasande Sokhela, and Cosme Almeida for sharing their thoughtful perspectives along side our Co-Founder Yabebal Fantaye on working across borders, boosting employability, and what the future of learning in Africa really looks like.

We're also grateful to the Association of African Business Schools for creating the kind of conversations that can actually shape what's next for African talent and innovation.

🎓 Celebrating the Graduation of 10 Academy’s Tenacious Recruitment Program (TRP 1) Trainees

Last Friday, we proudly celebrated the graduation of our TRP 1 trainees after months of intensive learning, collaboration, AI experimentation, late-night debugging, and continuous growth.

Throughout the journey, trainees developed not only technical skills, but also critical thinking, teamwork, and real-world problem-solving abilities.

We were honored to hear inspiring remarks from our co-founders Arun Sharma and Yabebal Fantaye, alongside industry leaders Damon Reeve, CEO of Ozone, and Deepa Manickavasagam, CEO of RewardOps, who shared insights on the future of AI, engineering, and global opportunities.

To all TRP graduates: congratulations on this incredible milestone. Your journey is only beginning, and we can’t wait to see what you build next.
