Delete Without a Trace. Messages, chats, call history and groups you created can be completely deleted at any time.

Make your selection and check the box to delete for all participants – deleted items leave no trace, giving you full control over your digital footprint.

Global Search. Use the search field at the top of your chat list to find people by their usernames, as well as messages or media from all your chats.

Global Search also shows public channels and groups that you are welcome to join.

On iOS, swipe down on your chat list to reveal the search bar.

Unread Replies, Mentions and Reactions. Replies and reactions to your messages, as well as @mentions show special unread badges in the chat list.

In the chat you will see individual buttons that you can tap to jump directly to unseen responses.

Replies are threaded – tap the quoted message in any reply to jump to it, or choose View Replies in the context menu of your messages to see them all in one place.

Your phone number is hidden. By default, it is only visible to your contacts. In all chats, you appear to people who don't know you as your chosen name.

If you create a username, people can search for your profile and get in contact with you – without needing to know your phone number. Your privacy settings allow you to make further changes to your overall visibility.

Auto-Delete. Set a timer in private chats, groups or channels to automatically erase messages after a certain period – from 1 day to 1 year later.

The timer only affects messages sent after it is enabled, and can be modified at any time from ⋮ or ⋯ on a chat’s info page. In groups and channels, only admins can enable auto-delete.

Home Screen Widgets. Add custom widgets to your home page that show a preview of recent messages, or just a shortcut to your chats.

All widgets display unread message counters and instantly open the chat when tapped.

Invite Links. Share unique links inside or outside of Telegram to let other users instantly join your group or channel.

In addition to the permanent link, you can create multiple links with custom properties – like a limited duration or number of uses. Any invite link can also be converted into a QR Code.

Imported Messages. You can move chats from other apps to Telegram and keep all your memories in one place.

When importing chats, if the destination chat on Telegram is new or has less than 1000 messages, everything will be seamlessly sorted by its original date and time.

Invite by QR Code. Convert an invite link for your group or channel into a scannable QR code to send and share anywhere.

Send Media as a File. Photos and videos can be sent at their full quality and size – up to 2 GB per file.

On Android and iOS, tap the 📎 to open the attachment menu, and then select ‘File’ in the bottom bar. You can also quickly send recent media from your gallery without compression.

Bots: Custom Tools. Automate tasks like converting files or managing chats with specialized bots.

Users can chat directly with these bots, or add them to groups and channels to increase productivity.

Limitless Voice Chats. Group and Channel admins can start a voice chat to bring an unlimited number of people together for live talks, podcasts and more.

Specific invite links let users instantly join as a listener or speaker, and listeners can raise their hand if they want to add to the conversation.

Your bio text is visible in the list, which you can use to add info or ask questions. For voice chats in channels, you can join with your personal account or appear as one of your channels for extra privacy.

Voice chats in groups support video – participants can turn on their camera or share their screen from any device.

Chat List Swipe Gestures. In Chat Settings, Android users can assign a specific action to swiping left in the chat list – like mute, pin, delete, archive or mark as read.

By default, iOS users can swipe right to pin or mark as read, and swipe left to mute, delete or archive.

Record Live Audio. Admins can tap Start Recording to save audio from Live Streams and Video Chats – even if no one decided to turn on their camera.

The audio file is instantly sent to the admin’s Saved Messages chat, ready to share with their audience. When users are sharing their camera feed or screen, video recording is also available.

You can start recording from any device – simply tap or to open the broadcast menu.

Groups. Up to 200,000 people can talk, text and share media in group chats.

Groups can be private or public and offer powerful admin tools to manage discussions of any size – including polls to make group decisions and video chats with screensharing.

Any group can enable Topics to create separate spaces for discussing work, hobbies and more.

Broadcast Groups. Groups that are close to 200k members can convert to a Broadcast Group with no member limit.

After converting the group, only admins can send messages but all members can read along and participate in video chats.

Invite Speakers and Listeners to Voice Chats. Admins in voice chats can share specific invite links that let users instantly join with speaking privileges or with their mic muted.

Listeners can raise their hand at any time to ask admins for the ability to speak.

Scheduled Voice Chats. Group and Channel admins can schedule a voice chat for a specific date and time.

Users will see a countdown at the top of the chat, which they can tap to set a notification for when it goes live.

To schedule a voice chat, open the Group or Channel’s profile page.
Android: tap ⋮ > Start Voice Chat > Schedule Voice Chat
iOS: tap Voice Chat > Schedule Voice Chat

Voice Chat Reminders. After a voice chat is scheduled, you can tap on the countdown banner to receive a notification when the chat starts – even if it goes live at a different time.
