Uber is going all in on robotaxis — and teaming up with Nvidia to make it happen 🚗🤖

Starting in 2027, Uber and Nvidia will roll out fully autonomous (Level 4) robotaxis in Los Angeles and San Francisco, with plans to expand to 28 cities globally by 2028. The cars will run on Nvidia’s AI, designed to handle complex, real-world driving situations.

The launch will happen in phases — data collection → supervised rides → fully driverless fleets.

At the same time, Uber is leaning into partnerships instead of building its own tech, investing up to $1.25B in Rivian to secure thousands of electric robotaxis, including 10,000 vehicles planned for the Uber app by 2028.

The long-term vision is a global network mixing human drivers and robotaxis, with tens of thousands of autonomous vehicles across major cities. Competition is heating up (Waymo, Tesla), and Uber is betting it can become the platform connecting it all.

Dockcase has unveiled the Selfix case for the iPhone 17 Pro/Pro Max, featuring an auxiliary display and memory expansion capabilities. The case is equipped with a microSD slot supporting cards up to 2 TB, which are recognized by iOS as external storage. It also features support for Power Delivery up to 100 W and includes a dedicated button for screen control. The project is slated for distribution via Kickstarter, with an estimated price of approximately $100.

Xiaomi 18 Ultra Early Leak 👀

Xiaomi 18 Ultra is reportedly in the early research stage, exploring a 200MP 1/1.28" continuous optical zoom solution with an improved minimum focusing distance for telephoto macro. The focal length has not been finalised yet.

For comparison, the current Xiaomi 17 Ultra features:
Continuous optical zoom from 75mm to 100mm, powered by HPE (1/1.4" 200MP) sensor
30cm minimum focusing distance for telephoto macro, which is relatively limited

Flying taxis might finally lift off as early as 2026 — but we’re not quite there yet.

After years of hype, companies are pushing hard to launch air taxi services, with early routes planned in Dubai 🌆. On paper, these electric aircraft promise quieter, cleaner and more efficient travel than helicopters, and could one day make urban flights more accessible.

But reality is catching up. Safety concerns, strict certification requirements, and the sheer complexity of building a whole new transport network are slowing things down. Most companies still need thousands of test hours, and experts say full-scale operations are likely years away — closer to the next decade.

Even if the tech works, the economics are uncertain. High production costs, battery wear, and infrastructure challenges mean flying taxis could remain a luxury for quite some time.

For now, cargo and medical uses may arrive first — while the dream of everyday air taxis is still waiting for clearance.
