Apple presses for a ~20% cut in iPhone 18 Pro Max OLED panel prices
Apple is demanding lower display panel prices as rising memory prices push up the cost of building iPhones.
Apple has proposed around $70 for iPhone 18 Pro Max OLED panels, with Samsung Display supplying M16 panels and LG Display offering comparable high-end panels, both averaging around $66.50.
For comparison, iPhone 16 Pro Max OLED panels using M14 material at times exceeded $100, while iPhone 17 Pro Max panels using the same M14 material fell to the $80 range.
Despite using Samsung Displayβs latest M16 OLED material, which improves efficiency, lifespan, and color performance, panel suppliers are facing pressure as Apple and other smartphone makers seek to reduce component costs amid rising memory chip prices. Samsung Display and LG Display have acknowledged that they are feeling the impact of these price-cut demands, but say the situation remains manageable through cost innovation.
