Elon Musk's startup Neuralink has received approval for the first human clinical trial of its brain implant chip. The company will select its first test subjects from patients with paralysis due to cervical spinal cord injury or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

“The initial goal is to enable people to control a computer cursor or keyboard using only their thoughts,” Neuralink noted.
