Last year's GTA 6 leak cost Rockstar $5 million plus "thousands of hours of staff time," the developer told a UK court. 

On December 21, the BBC reported that Arion Kurtaj, a key member of the international hacking group Lapsus$, had been sentenced to indefinite life in a hospital prison due to his alleged involvement in the GTA 6 leak, and "intent to return to cybercrime as soon as possible." 

During the proceedings, Rockstar told the court that the hack had cost the company $5 million to recover, plus "thousands of hours' worth of staff time." The leak, which took place in September 2022, released over 90 screenshots and videos of an early build of GTA 6 - which at this point had barely been announced as in development.

iOS 17.3 New Feature Update: Apple Likely To Introduce New Features ‘Stolen Device Protection’ and ‘Apple Music Collaborative Playlists’ in Its Next iOS Update

The "Stolen Device Protection" feature might emerge as a response to a growing concern over device theft and unauthorized access. This new feature might aim to check such attempts by requiring Face ID or Touch ID authentication for critical actions, even if the thief has the passcode. This might include restrictions while accessing iCloud Keychain passwords, applying for an Apple Card, turning off Lost Mode, erasing all content, turning off "Lost Mode", setting up a new iPhone and at the time of using payment methods.

On the entertainment front, the iOS 17.3 update might introduce the Apple Music Collaborative Playlists feature. Initially expected in iOS 17.2 but later removed, this feature might allow multiple Apple Music subscribers to add, reorder, and remove songs in a shared playlist.

WhatsApp Web beta now allows users to post status updates.

This will save the hassle of transferring files to their primary smartphone.

Amazon Prime Video to Feature Ads From January 29, With $2.99 Fee to Avoid Them.

Amazon Prime Video will introduce limited ads to its content starting on January 29, offering an ad-free option for an additional fee.

In an email to subscribers, Amazon confirmed that movies and TV shows on Prime Video will soon feature "limited advertisements" starting on January 29, 2024. The company assured users that Prime Video will have "meaningfully fewer ads than linear TV and other streaming TV providers."
The current price of Amazon Prime subscriptions will not change, but members who prefer to avoid ads can opt for a new ad-free version at an extra cost of $2.99 per month.

The initial regions to be affected are the US, UK, Germany and Canada — back in September. Customers in France, Italy, Spain, Mexico and Australia will have to make the decision whether to endure the advertisements it serves or pay extra by late next year.

Google has agreed to settle a massive $5 billion lawsuit that accused the embattled tech giant of improperly tracking the personal data of millions of people who used its Chrome browser's incognito mode, lawyers said Thursday.

Lawyers on both sides signed a binding term sheet during mediation, aiming for final approval from a federal judge in Oakland, Calif., by Feb. 24, 2024.
Financial settlement details remain undisclosed. The plaintiffs, seeking a minimum of $5 billion, claimed Google tracked users' online activity without their knowledge.
