Area of residence may determine cancer risks and tumour biology
Where people live has long been studied by scientists in terms of disease risks. For example, higher noise levels are associated with higher risks of cardiovascular disease, and polluted air is associated with the development of dementia. Cancer is no exception. Scientists cite evidence that the area of residence does affect cancer risks and can alter the biology of tumours of already advanced cancer.

OpenAI concludes that the GPT-4o model poses a medium threat
OpenAI has released the GPT-4o System Map, a research document that describes the security measures and risk assessments conducted prior to the release of the model. GPT-4o's security checks were based on four categories, and only the manipulation category was found to have a medium risk. The texts generated by the model were in some cases more convincing than human texts. The paper was released amid growing criticism of the company's security standards and calls for greater transparency. While GPT-4o has been vetted by both internal teams and external experts, the primary responsibility for risk assessment remains with OpenAI itself.

Youtuber Norme stayed up for 11 days on a stream to break a world record. But YouTube blocked his broadcast for "violating community rules".
At the time the stream ended, the guy had been awake for 264 hours and 56 minutes. He was already so bad that concerned subscribers called an ambulance.
Interesting fact: since 1996, the Guinness Book of Records does not track this record, because it is very dangerous for health. It is not known what Norme was trying to achieve.

Ray Kurzweil: 'We won't have a confrontation with AI - AI will penetrate us'
Futurist and scientist Ray Kurzweil predicts that the merger of man and machine, known as the "Singularity", will occur in the coming decades. In his book The Singularity is Coming, he claims that general artificial intelligence (AGI) will be achieved by 2029, and that by 2045, humans will be able to increase their intelligence by a million times through advanced brain interfaces. According to him, our brains will be integrated with the cloud and we will be able to get the information we need by the power of thought. "We won't have a confrontation with AI: AI will penetrate inside us," says the scientist. This will lead to a big change in civilisation, improving the quality of life, but it will also raise serious ethical and social questions.

Google DeepMind researchers have created the world's first robotic table tennis player capable of playing at the amateur level. The system combines an ABB IRB 1100 industrial robotic arm and specialised software from DeepMind. The robot won 45 per cent of the 29 games played. It defeated all beginners and won 55% of matches against intermediate level players. Although a professional player can still beat the robot, the system demonstrates the potential of machines to master complex physical tasks that require instant decision-making and adaptation.
