Former NASA physicist Thomas Campbell claims that our world is a computer simulation. In his article published in 2017 in The International Journal of Quantum Foundations, he described a series of experiments that could prove this theory. Seven years later, scientists from California Polytechnic State University decided to conduct them. Scientists expect to obtain βstrong scientific evidence that we live in virtual realityβ.

Scientists present a new clinical case of a 60-year-old man who has been living without HIV for six years after transplanting donor bone marrow stem cells. Meanwhile, scientists are particularly excited that a cure has been achieved after transplanting cells that are not resistant to the virus. So far, with the exception of one case, all donor stem cells have carried a double mutation in the gene that encodes the CCR5 receptor.

A GLP-1 class drug has been shown to be effective against Alzheimer's disease
The drugs Ozempic, Wegovy and other GLP-1 receptor agonists have demonstrated a variety of therapeutic properties beyond the treatment of diabetes and obesity. Now, for the first time, this class of drugs has been shown to be able to prevent brain volume loss in patients with Alzheimer's disease. This is a highly unexpected result, given that the researchers were aiming to achieve a different goal.

An electric truck has been charged for the first time from a station with a capacity of more than 1 MW
MAN Truck & Bus has demonstrated a prototype of a 1 MW charger developed together with the Technical University of Munich. The system can charge a 40-tonne electric truck in 30 minutes, providing a range of 400 kilometres. This is enough for 4.5 hours of operation. The technology could reduce COβ emissions in the transport sector, but the transition to long-distance electric trucking will require significant infrastructure development. It is estimated that such megawatt charging stations would need to be placed every 50 kilometres along major freight routes across Europe.

In China, websites and apps must verify users by their phone numbers, which are tied to personal identification numbers assigned to every adult citizen. The verification process could now become more stringent and centralised. The Chinese government plans to introduce a single digital ID for all online users, motivated by data privacy concerns and anti-fraud efforts. However, experts fear that the innovation will lead to increased state control over the Internet.

π₯ A new enzyme could lead to harmless pesticides
Plant diseases reduce crop yields and cause great economic damage to agriculture. Japanese scientists have uncovered the mechanism by which Xanthomonas bacteria cause diseases in crops. They have discovered a new enzyme responsible for synthesising a substance that suppresses plant immunity. This discovery will make it possible to create new, more effective and safer plant protection products that will specifically target this enzyme and will not harm the environment.

Scientists from the USA have managed to unlock the secret of creating BC8 material, which surpasses diamond in strength. It is assumed that superalmass exists in the cores of large exoplanets. Using a supercomputer Frontier, the researchers found that to obtain BC8 requires melting diamond, subjecting it to extreme conditions - the pressure, 12 million times higher than atmospheric pressure, and a temperature of almost 5000 Β° C. The synthesis requires a series of shock waves, the parameters of which have also been determined. The supercomputer has studied all possible configurations of a billion atoms, performing millions of calculations. Now the theory is to be tested in practice at the National Ignition Facility.

Startup CoFlow Jet has developed a wind energy system that looks like several bridge piers placed on a ship. The installation is inspired by Flettner rotors, but has no moving parts. CoFlow Jet cylinders draw air in, compress it with an impeller and release it at a specific angle, creating thrust and pressure imbalance. This technology can reduce ship fuel consumption by up to 90 per cent and is easily adaptable to existing ships.

Neuralink has implanted its brain chip into a second person. Company founder Ilon Musk said the operation was a success and Neuralink plans to carry out eight more such implantations this year. Of the claimed 1,024 electrodes of the neurochip, the patient has 400 functioning. The development gives paralysed people the ability to control digital devices with their thoughts. For example, the implant allowed the first patient to play video games, use the Internet, post messages on social networks and move the cursor on a laptop.
