Renewable wind power displaces coal power in the US

According to the US Energy Information Administration, wind power in the States nearly doubled in the five years from 2019 to 2024, surpassing production from coal-fired power plants. Wind produced 25.8 GWh in March 2019 and 29 GWh in April 2019, rising to 45.9 and 47.6 GWh in March and April this year, respectively. Over the same period, coal-fired power generation decreased from 80 and 60 GWh in March and April 2019 to 38.3 and 37.2 GWh in 2024. Analyses over the last 22 years show a significant drop in coal-fired power generation together with a steady growth in wind power. However, if other energy sources are taken into account, the picture is not so rosy. For example, the decline in the share of coal is offset by the growing use of natural gas-fired power plants.

1️⃣2️⃣3️⃣A series of experiments has begun to prove that the universe is a simulation

Former NASA physicist Thomas Campbell claims that our world is a computer simulation. In his article published in 2017 in The International Journal of Quantum Foundations, he described a series of experiments that could prove this theory. Seven years later, scientists from California Polytechnic State University decided to conduct them. Scientists expect to obtain β€˜strong scientific evidence that we live in virtual reality’.

🦠Seventh patient cured of HIV using stem cells 🦠

Scientists present a new clinical case of a 60-year-old man who has been living without HIV for six years after transplanting donor bone marrow stem cells. Meanwhile, scientists are particularly excited that a cure has been achieved after transplanting cells that are not resistant to the virus. So far, with the exception of one case, all donor stem cells have carried a double mutation in the gene that encodes the CCR5 receptor.

An electric truck has been charged for the first time from a station with a capacity of more than 1 MW

MAN Truck & Bus has demonstrated a prototype of a 1 MW charger developed together with the Technical University of Munich. The system can charge a 40-tonne electric truck in 30 minutes, providing a range of 400 kilometres. This is enough for 4.5 hours of operation. The technology could reduce COβ‚‚ emissions in the transport sector, but the transition to long-distance electric trucking will require significant infrastructure development. It is estimated that such megawatt charging stations would need to be placed every 50 kilometres along major freight routes across Europe.
