IIT Guwahati researchers have developed a fluorescent sensor that detects cyanide in water and human cells using UV light. Unlike traditional sensors, this exhibits a turn-on response, brightening in the presence of cyanide. The weak blue fluorescence shifts to cyan due to a chemical reaction, ensuring high specificity.
