Microsoft has officially updated the Minecraft: Java Edition system requirements for the first time in 17 years.
The new recommended specs are:
a Vulkan 1.3-compatible GPU as Mojang prepares to move away from OpenGL and roll out future upgrades like Vibrant Visuals.
The minimum requirements have also increased. Microsoft now recommends at least 8GB of RAM

-A 2020-era CPU or newer, such as an Intel Core i5-12400 or AMD Ryzen 5 5600
-A graphics card like an NVIDIA RTX 2060 or AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT with around 6GB of VRAM

Microsoft is rolling out age verification in Australia for 18+ games and apps on Xbox and the Microsoft Store.
According to the Xbox notification, starting in late August 2026, Australian users will need to verify their age to access apps and games rated 18+.
Users will need to provide an ID to verify their age, If they don’t complete the verification, access to 18+ content may be restricted.

Windows 11’s Weather app is using surprisingly large amounts of RAM.
In a recent test by Windows Latest, the Weather app used more than 1.2GB of RAM while running on Windows 11.
For comparison, Apple’s Weather app on macOS used around 247MB in the same type of test.
That makes the Windows app roughly 5 times more memory-hungry.
The reason is that Microsoft’s Weather experience is built around WebView2, meaning it relies on web-based Chromium processes rather than being a traditional Windows app.
And despite using all that memory, the app also shows ads and sponsored content
