According to the Financial Times, Apple is lobbying US officials to allow it to source memory chips from CXMT, a Chinese chipmaker that has been placed on a Pentagon blacklist.

The move reportedly comes as memory chip prices continue to rise, putting pressure on Apple's costs

The idea that China's CXMT sells cheap DDR5 memory is outdated

Its prices are now close to Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron

Apple is reportedly interested in CXMT not because it's cheaper, but to diversify its suppliers and gain more negotiating power as memory shortages keep prices high

Gaming is getting way too expensive, and even Xbox says the industry has a problem.

PlayStation hardware sales in the US crashed to their worst May in more than 25 years.
