TikTok is set to be banned in the U.S. starting January 19, 2025, unless its parent company, ByteDance, divests ownership of the app.
This follows a federal appeals court ruling upholding a law signed in April 2024, which targets apps controlled by "foreign adversaries." ByteDance can appeal to the Supreme Court, but it is uncertain whether the court will hear the case. If accepted, the enforcement of the ban could be delayed by three months for a final decision.
