🚜 China rolls out a fully autonomous electric tractor

China’s aging rural workforce is accelerating the push toward automated farming and the new Honghu T70 shows how fast that shift is coming. The fully electric, driverless tractor is already working fields in Hebei, with nationwide deployment planned.

What it can do
β€’ Handles the full farm cycle: ploughing, seeding, spraying, harvesting
β€’ Gathers soil, moisture, and crop-health data in real time
β€’ Navigates with centimeter-level precision using China’s satellite network
β€’ Operates on grid or renewable power

Why it matters
β€’ One farmer could manage multiple fields with a fleet of robots
β€’ Cuts reliance on Western agricultural machinery
β€’ Clean energy design fits remote rural regions
β€’ Export potential across Southeast Asia and Africa

This kind of automation could move millions of workers out of agriculture and reshape how China produces food.

βš™οΈ A massive new $450 million Tesla Megapack battery energy storage system is now operational in Victoria, Australia.

It's the biggest completed battery project on Australia’s main grid, and one of largest battery projects in the world.

It features 444 Tesla Megapacks and three Toshiba 500kV HV transformers, for a total of 600 megawatts of capacity and 1,600 megawatt hours of storage. It will soak up excess wind & solar power during the daytime and shift that energy to the evening peaks.

Fit-to-size packaging is getting smarter! πŸ“¦

Sparck Technologies is using 3D scanning to measure each order and automatically create the best-fitting box. So no oversized packaging, no wasted space, or at least less!

The system scans the items, builds a custom box, and packs the order automatically. Less waste, lower shipping volume, and fewer air-filled boxes going out the door. eCommerce is growing constantly for years, as we order more from the internet, so it's important to optimize packaging.

πŸ‡¨πŸ‡³ China’s pace of solar panel installation is extremely fast.

So, at peak times, China has been installing on the order of ~100 panels per second. That’s a lot of repetitive work to be done. Robots are now handling the solar panels, making installation faster, safer, making installations faster, safer, and hands-free.

Operators can focus on wiring and more technical demanding tasks. The placing process is delegated to robots, who can do it without getting exhausted. Due to safety reasons, I think that these applications still require a human-operator to be in the loop. But the biggest hurdle which is manually placing heavy panels is solved.
