Hans Steininger became famous for the longest beard in the world (1.4 m), which he was very proud of. In September 1567, a fire broke out in the city where Hans lived. Running from the fire, he tripped up over his beard and broke his neck.
Over 450 years after Steininger’s death, his beard survives, currently on display at the District Museum Herzogsburg in Branau. I do find it interesting how this is so well documented and with such importance given to this story and even holding on to his beard in a museum. Where in other areas of history it can be very hard to find any information.

The Vinland map.
It was hailed as the first proof of Viking exploration to the America. The Vinland Map was verified in 1965 by experts from Yale University and the British Museum, who said it dated from about 1440. Some experts think the map was drawn at a later date while other experts disagree. The map emerged on the international book market in the 1950s bound within two medieval documents, the Tartar Relation and the Speculum Histioriale. In the 1960s a Norse settlement was excavated at L'Anse aux Meadows in Newfoundland, Canada. The Tartar Relation is an ethnographic report on the Mongol Empire. Speculum Histioriale is a history of the world down to the 1240s in thirty-one books comprising 3,793 chapters.

Rama's Bridge, also known as Adam's Bridge
It was 30 miles long created by Shri Rama and ShriLakshman with the assistance of Lord Hanuman and the monkey army to reach Lanka in order to rescue Shri Rama's wife Sita who was kidnapped by Ravana.
The bridge located between India and Sri Lanka was first mentioned as a man-made structure of Ibn Khordadbeh in his books of roads and kingdoms. Also the Islamic legend states the bridge was used by Adam, the first man created by God. It certainly doesn't seem like a structure nature would create. Did a monkey army really create this? You decide..
