Under current UK military law, the maximum penalty for disobeying a lawful command is imprisonment, not execution.  Specifically, under Section 12 of the Armed Forces Act 2006, the offence of "Disobeying lawful commands" carries a maximum sentence of 10 years' imprisonment if tried by court-martial.

Modern Penalties

Today, the disciplinary system focuses on imprisonment and discharge rather than capital punishment. The severity of the penalty depends on the nature of the disobedience:
