I'm Dutch, and our monarchy is grotesquely overpaid as well. Officially, it costs the taxpayer €60.8 million per year (around GBP 53 million), but in reality, it's closer to €345 million (around GBP 300 million). They don't pay any taxes, with an estimated fortune of GBP 10 billion (including shares in Heineken, Unilever, and KLM).
I truly hope our Royals watch and learn because we are getting fed up with their overspending as well. Thank you, Britain!
