Maybe I got some of the last 0.5mm lead on the UK market via ebay, and if you hang around, you'll have the same problem as Jay (you'll have to use thicker lead, and that will make the helmet unable to be worn for anything but a few hours at a time).

The difference is not insignificant; code 3 lead = 1.32mm thick; at 0.5mm the 'code 1 but not' lead being sold on ebay is almost 1/3rd of the weight = able to wear the helmet x 3 as long in time.

If money is no object, and you know the exact dimensions you want, it is possible to buy (within the parameters shown (max width 2400mm/max length 6000mm) ONE SHEET ... meaning you can build the perfect shelter; no joins at all! Be careful if going this route as of course, one needs to breath, and lead between you and oxygen = a killer (not only the the lead itself, which do not forget would need to be sealed into plastic before building with it to contain toxicity).

CAUTION: obviously buying in one giant sheet of lead can/will give you WEIGHT problems (could you even move it from the kerbside where delivered into your home without a lot of help etc).
