“They Monitor Every Word and Every Step”: Chinese Exile Allen-Yonggang Li Begs the UK and West to Reject Digital ID Before It Becomes China-Style Total Control

Allen-Yonggang Li, a Chinese dissident who fled the communist regime after being poisoned for speaking out against it, warns that China’s digital ID and social credit system, which has been in place for over 20 years, is the backbone of totalitarian control. Li explains that every citizen is tracked in real time. Every purchase, online post, and movement is scanned via mandatory QR codes.

Any dissent triggers immediate police visits, detention, or prison sentences of five years or more. During the pandemic, millions who fell foul of the system were literally locked in their homes, unable to buy food or travel; they were effectively under house arrest, enforced by their phones.

Li says that people who lose enough "social credit" can no longer buy train tickets, send their children to good schools, or sometimes even leave their neighborhoods. He has also seen regime critics abroad who are still harassed and threatened by secret Chinese police stations operating in London and other Western cities.

His desperate plea to Britain and the West is this: “Refuse the digital ID — it is a terrible thing. It is the ruling model of the Chinese Communist Party. Once it is in place, your children and grandchildren will be forced into slave labor under a regime that already controls your supply chains and aims to export its dictatorship."
