= enough to learn on without it being a PITA for want of resources levels to play installing etc

8 GB DDR3 ECC Memory

split it like this;

3-4 GB RAM = main OS (reserved/don't use).

The rest carve into separate VM's ... using KVM within KVM (cool!) Per your project(s).

With a slice like above, perhaps best;

either

1. use the rest for ONE site in a VM, or
2. Split it into TWO VM's

a) dev
b) production (your actual live site).

dev = development

dev = test/play area
production = stable/just runs/take hits, etc
