#VedicMaths in #NCERT Textbooks!
✨ Proud of India’s rich #heritage—#Vedic #Mathematics ✨
I studied all 16 Sutras during my school days.
Even today, as a #Math teacher, they continue to help me.
Here, I’m just illustrating the first two Sutras:
🔹 Ekadhikena Purvena – “One more than the previous one”
🔹 Nikhilam Navatashcaramam Dashatah –
Vedic Maths = Simplicity + Speed + Power 🚀
🌏 India’s Knowledge System blends mathematics, philosophy, astronomy, and logic—proving its timeless greatness in nurturing intellect, innovation, and holistic human progress.

Pics form my Personal #Garden!

Question Asked in today's UPSC GS 3 Paper, relevant for RBI and NABARD Exams.
Model Answer:
The Human Development Index (HDI) combines life expectancy, education levels, and per capita income to provide a broad measure of average achievements.
The Inequality-adjusted Human Development Index (IHDI) goes further by factoring in inequality in distribution. Where inequality is high, IHDI values are significantly lower than HDI.
India’s Current Status (HDR 2025)
As per the UNDP Human Development Report 2025 – “A Matter of Choice: People and Possibilities in the Age of AI”, India’s HDI in 2023 was 0.685 (Rank 130/193), placing it in the medium human development category.
When adjusted for inequality, India’s IHDI falls to 0.475, reflecting a 30.7% reduction—one of the highest losses in the Asia-Pacific region.
What the Gap Shows:
This sharp drop reveals that health and education inequality have improved somewhat, but income and gender disparities remain severe.
For example, low female labour force participation and uneven access to basic services continue to drag India’s IHDI down.
Why HDI Alone is Misleading:
HDI reflects only averages, masking regional and social inequalities.
For instance, Kerala’s HDI (~0.78) is far above Bihar’s (<0.58), yet this contrast is hidden in the national HDI score.
Why IHDI Matters More:
The IHDI is a better indicator of inclusive growth, as it shows the real level of human development people actually experience.
It helps policymakers identify who is left behind and target interventions—through schemes like Ayushman Bharat (healthcare), PM Jan Dhan Yojana (financial inclusion), and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (gender equity).
Conclusion:
While HDI measures progress in broad terms, the IHDI captures the depth of inequality, making it a superior and more realistic tool for guiding policies toward equitable development in India 【UNDP, Human Development Report 2025】.
