Few people know this: She was directly appointed to a CGM-level post in the RBI during Raghuram Rajan's tenure. I was with RBI during that period! If you see her biodata, you will think she was a much deserving candidate, but the procedure was not correct. There was a lot of opposition from other eligible candidates from RBI, but finally, the Governor had the final say.
