Oh these pesky untrustworthy external cameras... I wonder if UNKNOWN is already planned as a space for an external DRM-ed camera that attests itself more than physical cameras inside device currently do.
Can't wait for external cameras with TrustZone and tiny battery to track their internal time, giving them internet access or talking to them through a protocol that gives them server-distributed credentials for your future Zoom job interview. Or something around that in a future provenance Google utopia, the consequence of which they either don't mind or absolutely love.

For future reference, "provenance" is the established euphemism for media capture DRM, where having an attested device and software is meant to grant you privileges over people who don't have them.

There's now a closed source app (with PairIP enabled by default) that seemingly tells Android to convert just obtained dng into a jpeg, like https://github.com/reilandeubank/unprocess.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vwfndr.mbl
Expect 1fps burst and major incompatibilities, but at least it's more real than Zerocam.
Should you use it over Motioncam, Photon or gcam? Probably not, but at least this time it does something.

Oh, and right, it promises "Content Credentials" you have no control over (or at least I failed to find the setting with key import anywhere), so the exclusionary photo DRM, excellent xD

Very much worth a read, hopefully they'll be able to minimize the price despite the ambitions.

Disclaimer: as much as Jolla's integration on JP2 may miss some of the specification perks characteristic to miami and we're yet to see if it's going to be their best integration yet, they'll certainly provide a perk of rock solid connectivity and missing a socially frustrating maintainer.
Whether this justifies the difference of few hundred euro is to be seen, but I owe you an apology for hyping this particular port.
(Wrote in spite over a recent interaction, but honest at the same time.)

No, it's not running Snapdragon 6g1. Laugh hard at me if it actually happens to be qcom. It being the same thing as REVVL 7 Pro 5G is impossible. The ODM behind it wouldn't allow it to look so stupid.
BTW, the tldr of what we currently know is that:
- the phone looks completely different from the first render
- they may bail out without shipping all units
- obviously it's not manufactured in the US
- it seems that somehow it'll actually be Snapdragon 7 gen 3 (but I'll believe it when I see it)
- so many people paid their deposit that randomly acceptable spec should no longer be surprising
- second point again: don't assume that an improved spec is a sign that everyone or even 1/10 of customers will receive their units
- yes, we'll dump it as soon as we get the fw

By the way, actual good news for smartphone consumers:
If you've been watching closely, the most of entry-level high-end, which previously used to be "gaming oriented", started getting reasonable camera setups. From missing/tiny telephoto cameras not so long ago, to periscopic teles with 1/2" format.
The outcome is that the only long standing greed in this area is to be only expected from Samsung, Apple and Nubia. Even Iqoo moved on.

A famous Italian poet @GiovanniRN5 got his hands on a "ZTE 5G Prototype Smartphone" (in device's own words). It's a cousin of TP1803, one of the main reasons this channel exists in first place. It's built different and it's likely much rarer than TP.
The differences identified by Gio are:
Pics: the proto in question and TP.
The differences identified by Gio are:
> the zte proto uses an AB partition scheme
> my tp1803 has a 64/6 storage combo, my zte proto has 128/8 storage combo
> it has 2 back cameras, the imx363 and the s5k3t1sp (for both aux and front)
> the display is basically the same, but it misses the HDR10+ option (maybe due to a lineageos prop?)
> the zte proto uses the tfa98xx audio amplifier
> the zte proto uses the silead fingerprint driver (thought on my unit it seems to be broken?)
> the zte proto has a 4074 mAh battery (based on /sys/class/power_supply/battery/uevent output)
> the zte proto has nfc
> the zte proto has a 3.5mm jack
overall the zte proto feels so plasticky, more like a toy, it has the speaker on the back and has a square fingerprint sensor (instead of the circle one of the tp1803). some units may have a proper enclosure for the flash, mine has some piece of paperheight: 16.6cm
width: 7.9cm
depth: 1.5cm
display: 6.3 inchesPics: the proto in question and TP.

A theory: you can buy an app suggestion (app drawer ad) that opens a site of your choice, but something was broken and the app suggestion link also runs in place of an app you already have. This would match the presence of an affiliate code of supposed individual influencer better than intentional design from Motorola.
