Seeing news like this, a little reminder absolutely not in defense of the market:
I hope these price increases will let consumers realize that high-end doesn't provide proportionately more use out your device. Your phone is defined by (un)planned obsolescence long before you get your hands on it. If people start voting with their wallets just a little bit, there's a higher chance that high-end will try offering just a little bit more longevity to actually sell.

Found a completely fraudulent (AI-generated) Moto Signature 27 review, linked by someone totally oblivious to it. Uploading it here because we shouldn't bring any money to people solely concentrated in wasting our time. To be fair, YouTube labels it as AI-generated, but looks like it doesn't suffice to stop the fraud's viability.

Worst thing I just realized: it comes from an actual, human YouTuber who decided to grift with AI generated reviews, who in the past used to hit around a million of views on his videos. It doesn't look like an account that changed its owners as some of the recent videos remain human-made. Zero integrity π€§

Moto casually posting AI-generated interior and mangled exterior of Signature 27 on their site https://www.motorola.com/gb/en/motorola-signature/motorola-signature-2027
Somehow still more consistent than Moto's own render from earlier xD

We certainly need PairIP and Play Integrity on our desktops! We could finally replace all of the insecure websites with them! We love GMS and being logged in! Congrats John Wu! Buy Googlebooks to make it real! Yeah, it's totally normal to ask your current OS for permission to install another on PC!

https://kitsumed.github.io/blog/posts/android-may-soon-restrict-on-device-adb/ Oops, looks like wireless ADB is somehow too convenient to access and your granny will use it to bypass the 24h cooldown and install malware π€―
As I don't think I'd write it better than a model, it looks like for the sake of preventing your granny from advancing her device clock to get scammed, your offline device must be powered on for the whole 24h Google forces you to wait, otherwise internet access is mandatory.

This only strengthens my suspicion. OP15T owners outside of China report getting just LTE and no 5G, despite none of such things on Realme GT8 Pro. It's purely a software matter. It's still worth getting this phone and unlocking its bootloader, but normieβ¦
If non-standalone (NSA) 5G isn't something you care about, here's the first compact 8eg5 device getting official LOS:

Just in case the COS17 builds happen to be unfriendly to deeptesting enrollment (I don't know that), a downgrade package to 16.0.9.400 is available at https://downgradefs.coloros.com/downgrade/26/07/27/af2624b130b649248abb710023ed1eb8.zip

Deeptesting perm obtained on COS16 remains available after update to 17.0.0.107, while OEM unlock toggle visibility and state is preserved in that case. What I need to add is that executing a bootloader lock supposedly results in losing the deeptesting token from

Things that happen only with Chinese dedication to tech:
A simulator of the vision angle cost inflicted by privacy display upon Mi 18 Pro Max, supposedly based on measured data. Not gonna lie, it does feel like an LCD. The only solution would be a pixel density that allows narrow angle pixels to be fully turned off without consequences.

Tldr of the whole ordeal if you didn't look it up yet: modified Ledger hardware wallets were silently put on the market, but instead of getting their secrets out to spoof the real thing (very difficult or super mega ultra impossible if you're a TPM cultist), the real thing got a physical implant reading the Ledger's screen contents while the seed phrase is displayed, then uploading it.

I faintly remembered reading something like this when I set up my Ledger years ago. So I dug up the box, and sure enough, it was in there. Pretty embarassing, @Ledger, in light of the recent events π¬

Unrelated: EU wants (I don't even have to look up how much set in stone it is, material disrespect of existing right to repair laws doesn't inspire confidence, hence wants) users to have an option to disable auto updates and to be able to install security updates decoupled from functionality.
