📊 MACD Indicator Explained

The MACD (Moving Average Convergence Divergence) is one of the most popular technical analysis tools. It helps traders spot trend direction, momentum, and potential reversals.

🔎 What is MACD?

MACD measures the relationship between two moving price averages:
⚫️ MACD line = (12-period EMA – 26-period EMA).
⚫️ Signal line = 9-period EMA of the MACD line.
⚫️ Histogram = MACD line – Signal line.

⚠️ In some platforms like MT5, the MACD is displayed only with the signal line and the histogram.

⚙️ How does it work?

🟢 When the Histogram crosses above the signal line → BUY signal

🐻 Histogram crossing below 0-line → bearish momentum

MACD is also used to identify divergences with price (for example, when price reaches higher highs and MACD reaches lower highs), which can signal upcoming reversals.
