★ She decided to dismiss two Israeli translation scholars Gideon Toury and Miriam Schlesinger from the editorial board of 'The Translator' and 'Translation Studies Abstract' respectively.
★ St Jerome, Professor Baker's publishing house, said that it would not supply books to Israeli universities.
★ In an email to Prof Toury at the time, Prof Baker said:
"Dear Gideon, I have been agonising for weeks over an important decision: to ask you and Miriam, respectively, to resign from the boards of the Translator and Translation Studies Abstracts. I have already asked Miriam and she refused. I have 'unappointed' her as she puts it, and if you decide to do the same I will have to officially unappoint you too...
"I do not expect you to feel happy about this, and I very much regret hurting your feelings and Miriam's," she said. "My decision is political, not personal...
"As far as I am concerned, I will always regard and treat you both as friends, on a personal level, but I do not wish to continue an official association with any Israeli under the present circumstances."
★ To which Toury replied: "I would appreciate it if the announcement made it clear that 'he' (that is, I) was appointed as a scholar and unappointed as an Israeli."
★ And Schlesinger: "I don't think [Israeli prime minister] Ariel Sharon is going to withdraw from the West Bank because Israeli academics are being boycotted,"
★ Baker defended her actions and denied anti-Semitism: "An anti-Semite would not have invited these scholars to join her editorial boards in the first place"...
"Applying the boycott does not mean that all forms of dialogue between Israeli and other academics are ruled out - quite the opposite. What I and many others advocate is that we 'penalise' Israeli institutions by refusing to give institutional space and recognition to universities and research institutes."
★ Baker said that her actions against Shlesinger and Toury were not discriminatory against individuals, but rather against the Israeli state: “I am not against Israeli nationals per se; it is Israeli institutions as part of the Israeli state which I absolutely deplore.”

کتاب 'سنت ترجمه آثار فلسفی در ایران' حاصل گفت و گوی محمد میلانی با سیاوش جمادی، خشایار دیهیمی، کامران فانی و زنده یاد محمود عبادیان است که توسط نشر پایان (سال ۱۳۹۳) به چاپ رسیده است.
سیاوش جمادی در مورد زبان فارسی و ترجمه صحبت می کند. جمادی معتقد است در معادل گزینی نباید خود را به زبان بعد از مشروطه محدود کنیم که اصلا با تفکر ورز نیامده است. وی استفاده از همه امکانات برای گشوده ساختن زبان بومی بر زبان فلسفی مدرن را پیشنهاد می کند.
عنوان گفتگوی دیهیمی "ترجمه راهی به سوی فرهنگ سازی" است. دیهیمی به ضعف موجود در دانشگاه ها اشاره می کند. وی تعداد کتاب های فلسفی که اساتید فلسفه دانشگاه ها ترجمه کرده اند را با کتاب های ترجمه شده توسط افراد غیرآکادمیک و خارج از محیط آکادمی را قابل مقایسه نمی داند و محیط دانشگاه ها را مصرف کننده ی تولیدات بیرون می داند که به زعم وی ضعف بسیار بزرگی است.
کامران فانی ترجمه ی تاریخ های فلسفه را پیشنهاد می دهد و اشاره می کند که باید بدانیم فلسفه چه سیری را پیموده است. او معتقد است باید فلسفه را از تاریخ فلسفه بیاموزیم.
محمود عبادیان به فراز و نشیب های ترجمه ی آثار هگل می پردازد. عبادیان بر این باور است که زبان فارسی از تمام امکانات خود استفاده نکرده و نمی کند. نه تنها امکانات موجود و بی واسطه خود زبان فارسی، بلکه فرضا امکاناتی که در زبان تاجیکی و افغانی به عنوان زبان های ایرانی به کار می رود. وی معتقد است پیشوندها و پسوندها و امکانات دیگر در زبان پهلوی را کمتر بکار گرفته ایم و اشاره می کند که هیچ وقت از ترجمه بی نیاز نخواهیم بود.
