President of Astana Toastmasters club Yerlan Meirbek visited South Korea and shared his insights in #tm_review

When other members from ATC participated on meetings in other countries, I always imagined it. This day came during my vacation to Seoul. I participated at 2️⃣ meetings: Joint meeting from Area 12 and Signature Toastmasters club.

First of all, South Korea fully integrated into all Toastmasters Worldwide Community. They have 76 clubs, 17 area, 4 divisions and 1 district. South Korea represent District 93, you can find all info following the link below. 🌏

I participated on Joint meeting from Area 12, there were 4 clubs. All clubs organized and acted, as a 1 club, as a one organism. Several interesting key points:

✅ Meeting lasted for 3.5 hours, which made me and other members “lost” in the end”😊
✅ They had following order: table topic, prepared speeches, debate and evaluation session. Debate session is real short debate for 1 topic. I was very impressed with this innovation
✅ Each club represented 7-17 members
✅ They used QR-code/web link to collect votes for bests. Agenda was printed

In the end, I introduced myself and presented Kazakhstan chocolate to each club president😊

If you host a special event, you may be required to introduce speakers. Try these quick tips for delivering thoughtful speaker introductions:

ℹ️ Don't steal the show by making the introduction too long (60 seconds or less is sufficient), or by speaking on a topic that is in no way related to the speaker.
ℹ️ Grab the audience's attention with a great opening. This can be an inspiring quote, a humorous anecdote, or an impressive milestone the speaker has achieved.
ℹ️ Briefly mention the topic the speaker is addressing, but don't reveal too much about his or her speech.
ℹ️ Establish the speaker's authority and expertise. This information will help solidify with the audience the speaker's credibility as a subject matter expert.

This method can be also used by toastmaster of the meeting for introduction of prepared speaker 🤓

Lark Doley, of Jonestown, Texas, is the new International President of Toastmasters International. Some facts about Doley:

✔️ Doley is a training team leader for MAXIMUS, where she has worked since 2007. She manages the professional development strategy for the MAXIMUS Texas Project, which includes leadership development, curriculum design, webinars, computer-based training and instructor-led workshops. For 12 years, Doley served as chief executive officer of Second Wave Inc., a company she founded in 1987. Second Wave manufactured hardware peripheral devices for Apple Macintosh products.
