Every year toastmasters from all over the world unite due to Major Event - Annual Toastmasters International Convention.

This year it is 87 convention and it will be held in Chicago at the 22-25 of August. 🌎

Facts that you should know about TI Convention 2018:

who will lead panel discussions, interactive sessions and presentation on leadership and public speaking.

3️⃣ rounds of semifinals of The World Championship of Public speaking and FOR SURE battle of finalists. Initially there were 30,000 participants from 141 countries registred for the competition

👑 Inauguration of new Toastmasters International President: recognition of outfoing President Baltaj Arunasalam and welcome of incoming President Lark Doley.

TI International Convention is more than event with networking and sharing of experience. It’s the greatest family reunion for thousands of toastmasters 🙌🏼

Let’s welcome officers of Atyrau Open Toastmasters Club who maintain their responsibilities from April 2018:

❗️ Gulmira and Zhanibek performed their roles for only half of their elected period due to some reasons. Afterwards Sapar and Aibar were selected subsequently to take over and replace them.

Apart from working on Distinguished Club Program (DCP) goals, club’s main goal for the coming year is to continue working hard on promoting club’s name and Toastmasters brand in general, so that more people who aren’t aware of Toastmasters find out about it! 👌🏼
In order to do that club is doing some collaborative works with American Corner Atyrau, Atyrau State University and other local communities.🌎

Here are some curious facts you didn’t know about Pathways:

✅ More than 13,000 members have enrolled!
The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive with members describing the program as “new” and “exciting,” and that Base Camp is “like having a personal coach.” 🤟🏼

✅10,252 paths are in progress
Nearly 10,000 members are in Level 1 and over 20,000 assessments have been taken.👏🏼

✅Members are choosing to go digital!
Out of all the paths in progress, as of November 29, only 90 have been requested in print.💻

✅Average completion time for the Ice Breaker project is 20 days
Feedback for the Pathways Ice Breaker project has been positive, with a majority of members saying that it provided valuable information.📈

​​Beyond Toastmasters club’s weekly meetings, there are gatherings just as essential to the success. These special events include conferences, speech contests and others. Follow these #tm_tips as you prepare for your next event to help make it a success!🤓

Step 1️⃣: Create a plan
The first thing you should do before you begin planning is form a committee and work together to outline what you hope to accomplish. It’s also important to determine your budget and see if any fundraising will be necessary to cover the event costs. Be sure to create a project calendar highlighting the tasks you will need to accomplish before and during the event.📝

Step 3️⃣: Choose the right location
Book your venue as soon as the event dates are set to help guarantee site availability. Consider these factors: the size of your group, the length of the event, the event budget, where most attendees will be traveling from and the time of year the event will take place. 🏢

Step 3️⃣: Keep it safe
Protect yourself, your attendees and the organization from any harm or liability by carefully considering safety logistics as you plan your event. Choose a safety officer to evaluate the venue before and after attendees enter and leave the premises. Examples of safety items to consider include making sure aisles and walkways are clear of obstructions and wide enough for foot traffic, electrical cords and audio/video cables are securely taped to the floor and that stairs are adequately illuminated.⚠️

Step 4️⃣: Organize accordingly
After you book your venue, work with the facility staff to arrange the meeting space in the optimal way based on the type of event you are hosting. Make sure the audio/visual capabilities are adequate for your needs; ensure the lighting, acoustics and soundproofing are appropriate for the meetings and presentations you envision. Remember to allow for enough time to setup and tear down equipment before and after your event.✅

As you plan, rely on the help of veteran leaders who have planned or attended similar events before. Always consider how your plans and decisions will affect your attendees’ experience. Good luck!💪🏽

Bishkek Toastmasters Club (Club #5915351) is celebrating One year anniversary.🎂🍾🎊
Brief review of their accomplishments and interesting facts:

✅ BTC has held around 48 successful meetings.

✅ During this period leaderhip team invited up to 20 interesting guest speakers: CEO of Kyrgyz Concept - Emil Umetaliev, President of Ataturk Alatoo University - Sanzharbek Erdolatov, Mission Director for USAID in the Kyrgyz Republic - Gary Linden, Professor of Communications at Illinois State University (USA) - Dr. Zompetti, General Manager of WorldClass - Baikal Maldybaev were among them.

✅ Ice-breaking and Storytelling speech contests were held. Winner of the last representes our club at the international speech contest in Astana, Kazakhstan.

✅ 30 members registered in total.

✅ The best social gatherings such as English Movie Night and Healthy Lifestyle with BTC
is practised.

✅ Total number of guests that visited our club - around 1000 people.

On 25th of August with a speech titled "Still Standing," Ramona J. Smith, a high school teacher from Houston, Texas, won the Toastmasters World Championship of Public Speaking. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

For the first time in the contest's history, female competitors swept the 🔝3️⃣ positions.

Smith is only the fifth woman to capture the World Champion of Public Speaking title since the contest began in 1938.😱

Smith said the key message of her speech was strength during adversity.  "When you are in the ring of life, you will face some challenges," she said.  "You are going to get hit, you will be punched, you will be bruised. Even though you fall down and stumble, all you have to do is find whatever strength lies within you or outside you from family, friends, faith, your mentors and coaches to help pull you back up. " 🙌🏼

This year is historical for the TI speech contest and it will for sure inspire all women around the world ✊🏼🙋🏽‍♀️

Distinguished Toastmaster award (DTM)is the highest individual honor you can achieve in Pathways. Earn your DTM when you fulfill the following requirements:
✅Completing two paths
✅Serving as a club officer for 12 months
✅Serving as a club mentor or coach
✅Serving as a club sponsor or conducting Speechcraft or a Youth Leadership Program
✅Serving as a district officer for one year
✅Completing DTM project

New requirements seem to be harsh, but it will provide toastmasters community with new generation of experienced leaders🙌🏼
