​​Many members of Toastmasters face with difficulties with grabbing of attention in the begging of the speech. #tm_tips from Aizhan Zhumabayeva will help you to solve this problem✊🏼

Here are 3 quick methods that will help you to grab the attention:

1️⃣ Open your speech asking a question. Ask simple yes/no questions so that audience can raise hands and get involved.
2️⃣ Use some object: a book, a chair, etc. People will be curious about it and start listening.
3️⃣ Start with well known facts or share facts about you. For example: I am vegetarian, global warming is killing the Earth.

​​People say that if you don’t look into a listeners you seem a liar. 😬

Ohhh… I remember first few minutes in my speech: the ground goes under the feet, and, Oh God, do I still have to look at these people? Impossible! I am so nervous!😲

Now I know the secret and I will share it with you:
1️⃣Before you speak, pause and connection with distinct listeners. It means that you should not just look into the crowd but see each and every person 🧐
 2️⃣Maintain eye contact with individuals for 3 to 5 seconds. This is the same practice you naturally follow when engaging in normal one-on-one conversation.  Any longer and you make the other person feel uncomfortable.  Any shorter and you look less than trustworthy⏱
3️⃣ Don’t look into listener’s eyes if he/she isn’t looking and listening at you. This is just wais of time, hold your attention only on those who seem interested in you 👀

Remember to make contact with the audience establish eye contact firstly!🙌🏼

In August 2017, the Board of Directors voted to increase dues for all members of undistricted clubs. From October 1, 2018, all members will now pay international dues of $45 USD every six months. This dues increase will go directly toward furthering the mission of Toastmasters International.

Districts receive 25% of the dues for each membership in the district. For undistricted clubs, 25% of international dues now will be placed in a reserve account. The purpose of this account is to provide starter funds to support new and developing markets, allow for area director visits, conferences and more.

​​Presentation is one of the tools of quialified toastmaster. If you still struggle with making good presentation, here are #tm_tips for effective slide presentations:

1️⃣ Don’t overload your slides.
Don’t use more than 3 colors, 2 fonts and 1 theme in one presentation. 2-3 sentences in one slide are enough.

2️⃣ Use quotes, stories and anecdotes. They will help reinforce your message and entertain the audience.

3️⃣ Use cool pictures. One good illustration can save your 100 words of description.

Every year toastmasters from all over the world unite due to Major Event - Annual Toastmasters International Convention.

This year it is 87 convention and it will be held in Chicago at the 22-25 of August. 🌎

Facts that you should know about TI Convention 2018:

ℹ️ you will hear the latest updates and future plan for TI Board of Directors

8️⃣ experienced speakers
who will lead panel discussions, interactive sessions and presentation on leadership and public speaking.

🔝 there will be celebration of Distinguished District Successes and individual members accomplishments

3️⃣ rounds of semifinals of The World Championship of Public speaking and FOR SURE battle of finalists. Initially there were 30,000 participants from 141 countries registred for the competition

👑 Inauguration of new Toastmasters International President: recognition of outfoing President Baltaj Arunasalam and welcome of incoming President Lark Doley.

TI International Convention is more than event with networking and sharing of experience. It’s the greatest family reunion for thousands of toastmasters 🙌🏼

Let’s welcome officers of Atyrau Open Toastmasters Club who maintain their responsibilities from April 2018:

Vice President of Public Relations - Zhanar Makhmudayeva

Sergeant at Arms - Darkhan Yestiyar

❗️ Gulmira and Zhanibek performed their roles for only half of their elected period due to some reasons. Afterwards Sapar and Aibar were selected subsequently to take over and replace them.

Apart from working on Distinguished Club Program (DCP) goals, club’s main goal for the coming year is to continue working hard on promoting club’s name and Toastmasters brand in general, so that more people who aren’t aware of Toastmasters find out about it! 👌🏼
In order to do that club is doing some collaborative works with American Corner Atyrau, Atyrau State University and other local communities.🌎
