South Africans discovered to be fighting for Israel in Gaza could face prosecution at home, its foreign ministry has warned, as President Cyril Ramaphosa once again denounced the conflict as “genocide.”
Naturalized citizens risk being stripped of their South African nationality for engaging in a war that the country “does not support or agree with,” the ministry added.
South Africa’s State Security Agency will be used to track down any citizens believed to have enlisted.
