In Bulgarian traditional belief wolf cubs are born between 1-3 February. These are the first of the two annual Wolf Holidays, and in some parts of the country they are marked by ritual precautions to protect against wolf attack throughout the year. It is taboo to spin, weave, sew or open scissors, and no clothes are made or mended at this time because such clothes attract wolves.
In the Christian calendar 2 February is Candlemas, the day when the Virgin Mary presented baby Jesus at the temple, and there is a popular Bulgarian legend about an encounter between Trifon Zarezan, the patron saint of vineyards, and Mary (“bogoroditsa” - the mother of god) on this day.
But in some parts of Bulgaria 2 February is also known as the Winter Mother of God or the Wolf Mother of God. She is the patroness of pregnancy and childbirth.
The Bulgarian beliefs and tradition associated with this day contain echoes of the ancient Roman festival of Lupercalia on 15 February (the old calendar equivalent of 2 February).
There are also parallels with the Polish Matki Boskiej Gromnicznej, the Mother of God of the Thunder Candle, who is celebrated at Candlemas and is also associated with wolves, as well as with the Irish St Brigid.
In some regions the three days from 1-3 February are called the Trifontsi, after Trifon Zarezan, and on 1 February (14 February old calendar) there is a ritual pruning of the vines. St Trifon and the traditions associated with him have their roots in ancient Thracian times and the rites of the wild wine-loving god Dionysus.
Wolves, mothers, vines, Christian saints, Dionysus, Lupercalia – there are many mythological layers associated with this period!

The nice thing about these video's about animism is that the person in the above mentioned video's speaking about this is not a scientist that speaks from theoretical knowledge. That is refreshing because many of us have already got a lot of bookknowledge. Don't get me wrong here, guys: Bookknowledge is very important but at a certain moment bookknowledge is not enough anymore. Then it's time to simply go for it and live that animism! The Tribe of the Fox for instance, loves communicating with the trees. 'How'?, you might ask. Here is how and you can do this too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6AftlDwBMio

In this film, David specifically focuses only on cases of hunters that go missing in the wilderness...
I’ve been familiarizing myself with David Puslides’s work here and there. He’s a former police officer who is now an investigator and writer. He put out a series of missing 411 books in which he documents the unusual disappearance of people in National Parks, and some in urban areas. I don’t know, there might be possibly something to this.
He only looks at the unusual, unexplainable, unsolved disappearances that happen under very suspicious circumstances. Something very mysterious is happening in national parks that makes no logical sense. Whatever it is, it doesn’t seem to be of a human intelligence. Somehow it could affect the person’s perception of his/her surroundings, and sense of sound. Possibly can affect local weather, because after disappearance occurs, it’s usually followed by bad weather that stands in the way of search
People disappear even when they’re close to their group. A 6 year old Denis Martin went missing in Great smoky mountains Tennessee. The last time his father saw him, he was running to hide behind a large bush. Denis’s father noticed immediately that his son wasn’t coming back out from behind that bush, and started looking for him right away. There was no evidence of a typical child abduction, no screams heard. Denis couldn’t have gotten far before father started looking for him., but there was no sign of him anywhere. 1400 people came to search for Denis. Adding to that they had professional canines, and trackers, and even a separate search by National guard, and a the special forces but unfortunately Denis, or Denis’s remains was ever found.
Some disappearances thappen while the group is walking in line through the hiking trail. One woman was walking the trail with her group. She was at the very end of the line, and ended up mysteriously disappearing. Again, no screaming heard, no sign of abduction.
This repeats in every such case: People disappear right next to their group, but no sound of screaming, no sign of being taken by force such as pieces of ripped clothing, disturbed ground, blood, tissue, nails, hair, any bodily fluids, or anything else that could create a scent for the professional canines to pick up on.
The typical explanations for why a person would go missing in the national Park don’t apply to these cases. It wasn’t animal predation, accident, getting lost, serial killer, people deciding to willingly disappear, etc... It’s unexplainable. Professional trackers cannot track the missing. Teams of professional canine dogs can’t pick up the scent of the missing.
It’s not just random people that disappear. According to his research, people go missing in categories. Like exceptionally gifted, highly educated people, or people with a very rare medical condition. Also for some reason people of a German descend.
These disappearances happen in cluster zones. Many have disappointed near granite, and boulder fields, or next to bodies of water. People go missing while picking berries, or looking for mushrooms in the wild.
Many of the bodies that are found, are found without shoes for some reason. Some of missing people remain missing. Never found, dead or alive., which left the families without peace of mind.
Those who come back alive are either too young to talk, or don’t remember what happened to them. There were a few cases where young children were found alive, but gave a nonsensical story of what happened to them, saying a large bear, or wolf cradled them and fed them berries, kept them warm.
I’m not sure if this is something new that we are just now discovering, or if it’s something ancient that lives in the wilderness that has always been on this planet. We were made to forget about them, the non-human beings who share this planet with us. Living in urban city environment we’ve been separated from the wilderness. We can, however, find mention of non-human races, and creatures that live in the deep wilderness in the old legends and folktales of our ancestors.

It is one of the perils of our so-called civilized age that we do not yet acknowledge enough, or cherish enough, this connection between soul and landscape - between our own best possibilities, and the view from our own windows.
We need the world as much as it needs us, and we need it in privacy, intimacy, and surety.
Without wilderness no fish could leap and flash, no deer could bound soft as eternal waters over the field; no bird could open its wings and become buoyant, adventurous, valorous beyond even the plan of nature. Nor could we.
