Khrimian Hayrik passed away on October 29, 1907.

To mark his life and legacy, 301 Contributor Nora Bairamian penned this powerful piece about Khrimian
Hayrik’s dedication to education.

Nora Bairamian is a PhD student at UCLA in the Department of Near Eastern Languages and Cultures. She holds Master’s degrees in Middle Eastern studies and history from Columbia University and UCI, respectively. Her thesis at Columbia was titled, "Beyond the Iron Ladle: Education, Gender and Economic Independence in the Work of Mkrtich Khrimean “Hayrik.” She also spent several years living and working in Armenia.

On October 29, a reservist, Private Misak Petrosyan (born in 1985) received a fatal gunshot wound from a colleague's shot.

An investigation is underway to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident.
