Several years ago, Michael traveled to the Netherlands to study European law
๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฑ

As a foreigner abroad, he realized how important transparent and clear migration rules are. This personal experience became the foundation of his idea to help foreigners who want to move to Russia.

๐Ÿ“ˆ Today, he heads the international department at Braiden, which has launched over 300 new projects in the first six months of 2025.

๐Ÿ“Š 102 projects involved obtaining Temporary Residence Permits (TRP) under Decree 702, while the rest dealt with other types of residency, visas, business services, and legal disputes with government agencies.

In an interview with Ivanna, Michael discussed key aspects of obtaining residency in Russia like:

โœ”๏ธ The main goal of his work: it is to identify what each specific client needs

โœ”๏ธThe residency application process

Submission date is the most important day in your legal life here in Russia.

โœ”๏ธWhat to pay attention to when preparing for the move

When we have the initial call, I always ask: Have you even been to Russian before?

โœ”๏ธThe path to residency in Russia: explore different cities and choose a region to live in; after 8 months with TRP โ€“ pass exams and obtain an RP (VNZh)

โœ”๏ธ Required documents from your home country: a valid visa and an apostilled police clearance certificate

โœ”๏ธ Challenges foreigners may face: a) deadlines, b) errors in documents.

We are control freaks in a good way.

โœ”๏ธ Under Decree 702, obtaining a TRP is significantly simplified for citizens of "unfriendly" countries

Iโ€™m a fan of this decree.

โœ”๏ธ How to correctly calculate the number of days allowed for staying in Russia

The whole population of Netherlands is about 17 million people, and Moscow is almost the same.

โœ”๏ธ Differences between regions in Russia

Lev Ivanovich Zeibel moved to Germany back in 1990 under the Jewish Repatriation Program to Israel, which ultimately led him to reside in the Federal Republic of Germany.

After living in Germany for 16 years, Lev Ivanovich was unable to integrate into the foreign country. In 2006, he returned and found himself without citizenship โ€” by then, the Soviet Union had dissolved, and Russia existed as an independent state. Since then, residing in Taryu, Lev Zeibel has regularly renewed his residence permit in Russia but has not acquired Russian citizenship.
